November

November 11th was my 78th birthday. Thanks for all your cards and calls. Our daughter Stacia showed your Happy Birthday wishes on the internet to me on her phone.

November 18th was my 12th annual concert at Collins Theater in Paragould, Arkansas and the last show of my 60th Anniversary year in the music business. A near full theater welcomed me to the stage. They were very receptive throughout my show. They came from as far away as Bemidji, Minnesota, Knoxville, TN and St. Louis, MO. Gary Prince opened the show, Sugar Creek backed me. Terry Wood from 95.9 The Wolf in Jonesboro was the MC. He told me that once again I had been the most requested artist on his show this year with "When Your Good Love Was Mine" being the most requested song. He is also playing, "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and "An Evening Prayer" from my new CD titled, "Now Is The Hour". I left the stage to a standing ovation. A lobby full of fans awaited me as the autograph line started. It had been good visiting prior to the show with my sister and brother-in-law, Ogareeda and Walter, My niece Lecia and her fiancé Richard and my cousin Don and his wife Sandy.

Loretta is doing much better. The night I did my show in Paragould was the first time she'd been able to stay alone since her fall August 27th. We had a good Thanksgiving gathering at the home of our daughter Stacia and son-in-law Danny. Also there were our grandchildren and their families including our great grandchildren.

We wish you a Merry Christmas.

God Bless,
Narvel

October

Two months ago today (Aug. 27) my wife, Loretta suffered her terrible fall which led to three weeks in
hospitals. Thankfully she is now home but still recovering. (details are in my September News)

October 8th I did my 14th annual concert at the Lady Luck Casino at Caruthersville, Missouri. This was
an outside show on the bank of the Mississippi River. Double Edge did their usual great job opening the
show and backing me. Cousin Carl from Pure Country 106.1 in Cape Girardeau, MO introduced me
and joined me at the end for a duet. Some 600 attended; they included Ray and Betty who made the
800 mile drive from Steubenville, OH to be there, Jim and Sharon made the some220 mile drive from St.
Louis to be there, as did Mary Lee who had seen me at the Blue Note in St. Louis on New Years Eve
1956. My music business friend, Terry Ray Bradley and his wife were there, as was my niece Lecia and
her fiancé` Richard plus our niece Debbie and her daughter. A long autograph line awaited me at
Huey's Record Rack. My new CD, "Now Is The Hour" was sold out by the time I got there. I'll see that
there's plenty of them when I play the Collins Theater in Paragould, ARK November 18th!

September

I did two shows in September which I will cover in this writing but first I want to tell you this;

On August 27th my wife, Loretta suffered a terrible fall in the kitchen of our home. I could tell she was hurt bad!! Her "Life Alert" bracelet had caught on a cabinet handle tearing the skin from the top of her hand! She was bleeding from the back of her head also. We found she had two fractures in her pelvis plus a fracture in her spine! The ambulance arrived soon. They called for a medical helicopter which rushed her to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis. The following day they did surgery grafting skin to repair her hand. They decided the fractures would mend themselves, that she must she must be transferred to an aggressive in-patient rehabilitation unit. The night of August 31st she was taken by ambulance to the in-patient rehab unit in Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. There they worked her really hard and she worked really hard to get up and around on a walker. After a day less than three weeks she got to come home providing me or our daughter, Stacia would be wither at all times. September 19th I drover her to Memphis where the surgeon removed the cast and heavy wrap plus stitches from her hand. She is now doing outpatient hand therapy in Dexter, Missouri. We appreciate your prayers. During the three weeks Loretta was in the hospital I stayed with her in both Memphis and Cape Girardeau except on two occasions when I had to leave to do shows which had been booked awhile.

On September 10th the billing was Narvel Felts plus Sonny Burgess and the Legendary Pacers. It was good visiting with Sonny and the guys again. This was the Rock 'n' Roll Highway 67 Festival in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Finley Watkins, The Rockabilly Kid, was also there. Double Edge did a great job backing me. The crowd was receptive. In the audience was my niece Lecia and her fiancé` Richard, also my cousin Don and his wife Sandy. A long autograph line awaited. It included friends from as far away as St. Louis, MO.

On September 15th it was Classic Country Night at the White County Fair in Searcy, Arkansas. The billing was Johnny Lee, Narvel Felts and John Berry. We each did our hits from the past. Jr. Rogers and The All Star Band and Double Edge who did their usual great job backing me. The crowd was very receptive during my show. An enthusiastic autograph line awaited me at Huey's Record Rack.

June

June 4th was my 60th anniversary concert in the music business. Except for my 6 month army training for the National Guard in 1961, this is how I've made my living since I was 17 in 1956.

Some 900 fans and friends attended my show for this event at the Rodgers Theater in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. They came from as far away as Corpus Christi, Texas, Decatur, Illinois, Joplin, Missouri, several from Bernie, Missouri, some of them saw me perform at our high school talent contest when I was in the 11th grade. That started me on this 60 year journey. My din attending was our daughter Stacia and her husband Danny, my niece Lecia and her special friend Richard plus my cousin Don and his wife Dandy who came up from Arkansas My wife of 54 years, Loretta would liked to have been there but she was physically unable to attend. My sister Ogareeda was sick that day.

The show was opened by the Moon Pie Band with special guest Finley Watkins - The Rock-a-Billy Kid, who is only 7 years old. Double Edge came up from Memphis and did their usual great job backing me. Brent Davis introduced Cousin Carl from KWKZ 106.1 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri who brought me on stage. Before my song started Representative Stephen Cookson read a resolution honoring me that had been passed by the Missouri State Senate. This was indeed a great honor to me! The crowd then gave me a standing ovation and my show began. I did several of my country hits from the 70s, "Funny How Time Slips Away". "Lonely Teardrops", "Somebody Hold Me (until she passes by), "Reconsider Me" and "Drift Away". I did some of my Rock-a-Billy classics from the 60s, "My Babe", "Kiss-A-Me Baby", and "Did You Tell Me" plus my song about those times, "Pink and Black Days" I sprinkled some of the songs from my first newly recorded CD in fourteen years in, "Love Me". "Jealousy, "I've Done It All In My Time" and the title song, "Now is the Hour". It was on sale for the first time in the lobby. We almost sold out of our first pressing. I left the stage to a standing ovation. A long autograph line awaited.

Note from Marli: I am currently living without internet connection as I've moved and am waiting till I own a new home before I get hooked up. I use my friend's connection when I have to get online. Also, my Facebook account was hacked while I was in the process of moving and I haven't been able to get help to get that fixed either. If anyone knows how to get a human to help you on FB please let me know! I can't get on there to post Narvel's news. Thanks for your patience and always being there!

May

May 18th I taped an interview with Wayne Brosius for his Saturday morning Classic Country show on WWXH in Clarion, Pennsylvania. He played several of my top hits from the 70s. They were, "Drift Away", "All In the Name of Love", "When Your Good Love Was Mine", "Reconsider Me", I Want to Stay", Funny How Time Slips Away", Somebody Hold Me (Until She Passes By)", "Lonely Teardrops" and "My Prayer". My first CD of studio recordings in 14 years just came out. It's title is "Now is the Hour". I did an interview with Cousin Carl on KWKZ in Cape Girardeau, Missouri May 24th. He played all 15 songs! The only place it will be available for now is at my 60th anniversary show at the Rodgers Theater in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, June 4th. I'll let you know when it's available elsewhere. Final Farewell: Randy Sheilds, He played drums in the band that backed me for several years. R.I.P.

April

April 1st would have been our son Bub's 52nd birthday but he will be 31 forever.

I don't have any shows in April. My friend and producer, Joe Keene and I are getting my new CD ready. The music has already been mastered. We have it at the graphic studio getting the cover and printing prepared now. When that is right we'll send it to the pressing plant. I hope to have it by my June 4th Sixtieth Anniversary Concert at the Rogers Theater in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. This will be my first new studio album in fourteen years.

Loretta and I will celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary quietly at home April 30th.

Final Farewell:

Jerry Ward; Songwriter, musician. He wrote, "Till the Sundown", which I recorded on my Super Songs Narvelized CD released in 2002.

Merle Haggard; One of the top country artists of all time. My wife Loretta and I met him in the lobby of the King of the Road Hotel in Nashville during the 1973 DJ Convention. In 1979 I played a week long stand at the Shy Clown in Reno, Nevada. Merle came out and caught my opening show.

February

February 21st I was part of a package show at Converse College Auditorium in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The line-up was Ronnie McDowell, The Drifters, Narvel Felts, J D Micals, Trey Young and Mac Arnold. The very receptive crowd blessed me with two encores including a standing ovation after the third song in my show, "Somebody Hold Me"". At the end of my show they were shouting, "We want Narvel!" over and over after I'd left the stage. A long autograph line awaited as Huey's Record Rack opened in the lobby. This was a 1331 mile round trip drive.

February 28th I did a concert at the Isle Casino in Cape Girardeau, MO. My show was sold out two weeks ahead of time. Double Edge from Memphis did their usual great job backing me. Cousin Carl from 106.1 Pure Country joined me on stage for a song. I was blessed with a complete standing ovation when I walked on the stage and another after "My Prayer" at the end of the show. A long autograph line awaited. This was a short 155 mile round trip drive.

These were the first two shows in this, my 60th anniversary year in the music business.

January 24th I was on Midwest Country on RFD-TV which aired three songs from my 2015 concert in Sandstone, Minnesota. February 19th I was on the Porter Wagoner show on RFD-TV which had been taped in 1974.

Final Farewell:
Hulen Hubbard; We had been teenage buddies at Powe, Missouri. He had played rhythm guitar in my band in 1960, doing a four month tour in Canada and New Jersey with me.

Sonny James; One of the top artists of all time. "Young Love" was a top hit in 1956/57. He had more then 40 top ten hits. More than half of these were #1. I did some shows with him in the late 70s.

Sympathy to my webmaster, Marlene Slater for the loss of her Ma. (Thank you to Narvel and Loretta for the beautiful card and your blessings)

Get well my pal since 1956, Matt Lucas. He had a five bypass heart surgery. He played drums with me in 1960-1962. In 1963 he had a hit record in the charts, "I'm Movin' On". I played guitar with him for a couple of tours.
