Can you believe that time has passed so quickly that Hank Williams,
Jr. has been in music long enough to be placed in the "Legends" category?
Moreover, it's hard to believed he's survived the journey to reach his legendary status.
It just goes to show you, "A Country Boy Can Survive"!
In honor of Hank's long and hit filled career comes the new tribute
CD, "Songs of Hank Williams, Jr. - A Bocephus Celebration". This album is filled
with a cast of country stars ranging from the newest on the scene, such as Blake Shelton,
Dusty Drake, Chad Brock, Andy Griggs, Trick Pony and Darryl Worley to today's top country
stars like Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, John Michael Montgomery, Aaron Tippin and all
the way up to the legends, George Jones, John Anderson and even Hank himself appears the
songs, "A Country Boy Can Survive" and "Outlaw's Reward". Also
included in this tribute are the top artists in southern rock; 38 Special, The Marshall
Tucker Band, Don Baird from the Georgia Satellites, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
While all of the songs on this album are great, Iike anyone else, I
have my favorites.
- "A Country Boy Can Survive" - Performed by Chad Brock with
special guests John Anderson and George Jones and Hank Jr. - You just can't ask for more
than that!
- "Heaven Can't Be Found" - Dusty Drake, a wonderful new
talent on the rise!
- "Family Tradition - This song fits Aaron Tippin's style
perfectly.
- "Blues Man" - Produced by Keith Stegall, who is one of the
top producers in country music and an accomplished songwriter and singer in his own right;
and of course, Alan Jackson was the perfect choice for "Blues Man". It's as
though the song were created for him.
- "Major Moves" - Balladeer, John Michael Montgomery
compliments this song with his easy style.
- "Eleven Roses" - Again, the perfect choice to sing any song
but Trace Adkins truly brings out the bloom of "Eleven Roses"
- "Old Habits" - Andy Griggs captures your heart on this one.
I want to know who is singing the harmony on this song... it's absolutely beautiful!
- "Outlaws Reward" - The highlight of Hank's collection
performed by "Hank and friends", which means the all-star cast joining in and
topped off with none other than Stevie Wonder playing the Harmonica.

WOW! What a cast of pure talent! With
all of the greatest songs from Hank JR's collection sung by the top artists in their
field, you've got nothing less than a sure-fired hit album. I expect "The Songs of
Hank Williams, JR - A Bocephus Collection" to climb the charts and blow Music Row
away with "record" sales! There's something here for everyone.... even (God
forbid) those who aren't Bocephus fans will have to agree that this celebration of Hank is
one worthy of being in their collection. Hank, all your rowdy friends may have settled
down, but thanks to them, this album will soar to the top! |
