"I never wanted to copy any man. I was determined to carve out a music of my own. Bluegrass is wonderful. I'm glad I originated it." (Bill Monroe) I'm sure that when Bill Monroe, the father and creator of Bluegrass, made that decision, he had no idea that his desire to be original would give birth to a whole new world of music, for artists and fans alike... and that he would live on forever in the hearts of all who love Country and Bluegrass music. It was the love of of Bluegrass and the desire to pay homage to the man who fathered it that inspired Robert Swope and Koch/ Audium to produce a tribute to Bill Monroe album that will itself go down in history as a legendary production. On February 11th, "The Legend Lives On: A Tribute to Bill Monroe", a star-studded 2-CD set will be released to a world of eager Bluegrass fans.
If all of this whets your appetite, hold on to your plates because it doesn't end with the album. That's right... There's MORE! Koch/ Audium Records has also created a double DVD and VHS featuring the artists of "The Legend Lives On: A Tribute to Bill Monroe"! This double video set will be the featured premium offer in the March National subscriber drive of PBS stations around the U.S., available only to donors of PBS affiliates. Koch/ Audium will release the DVD/VHS set for national distribution in September. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these recordings benefit the Bill Monroe Memorial Fund. Still trying to figure out what to get that special someone for Valentine's Day? Look no further. What could be better than the "Children of Bluegrass" carrying on the legend of their father, Bill Monroe with 28 of his hit songs. Better yet, it's not fattening, it won't rot your teeth and it's a keepsake to be treasured forever. Marlene Slater For more information on Bill Monroe and his son,
