JOHN CONLEE TELLS OF THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO SERVE
They Also Serve reminds us that those families who wait on their loved ones to
return from war also serve their fair share
Nashville, TN - They Also Serve is a tribute song recorded by multi-platinum
selling artist John Conlee, and dedicated to those families who suffer the pain and
anxiety of waiting on their loved ones who are away from home serving in the war. Although
these are not the people flying F-14 Tomcats or firing rocket propelled grenades on Iraqi
soil, they are the ones providing moral support and hope to the troops by sending them
letters of concern or by praying for their safety.
When asked why he chose to record the song, John said I really feel like there
arent any songs out there that speak to the families of those who are serving in the
war. There are plenty of songs dedicated to, and rightfully so, the military troops who
are doing the actual fighting, but oftentimes those family members who are left worried,
waiting, and wondering go unnoticed. I think this song gives them their due recognition
for what they contribute to their beloved soldiers.
When asked what spurred the song to be written, the co-writers Tony Seibert and Jerry
Holthouse responded with similar answers to Johns. They replied, As Nashville
songwriters, we are aware that in spite of the many patriotic songs that have been written
and released, military families and their service has often gone unmentioned,
unrecognized, and certainly unapplauded.
As a former U.S. Navy officer who served both in the continental U.S. and with NATO force
in Southern Europe, Tony Seibert added, we wrote They Also Serve to pay
tribute to these everyday heroesthese unsung warriors. I hope it will stand as a
tribute to the deep personal sacrifices of American military families and honor their
patriotism, their love and devotion, and their service to America.
The tune is expected to touch many hearts across the nation as many fellow Americans know
exactly how it feels to await their loved ones fate in wonder while they are far
away.
