ALISON KRAUSS + UNION STATION: NEW ALBUM SET FOR NOVEMBER RELEASE ON
ROUNDER RECORDS
2004 AN AMAZING YEAR SO FAR
Cambridge, MA-Multiple Grammy-winning platinum artists Alison Krauss +
Union Station - Krauss (fiddle and vocals), Dan Tyminski (guitar and vocals), Barry Bales
(bass and harmony vocals), Ron Block (banjo and guitar), and Jerry Douglas (dobro) - are
in Nashville putting the finishing touches on a new album to be released in November on
Rounder Records. The new recording follows 2002's platinum Alison Krauss + Union Station
Live - their fastest selling album ever - and their last studio release, 2001's
gold-certified New Favorite.
2004 has been an amazing and unprecedented year so far for Alison Krauss + Union Station.
Krauss has been seen - and heard - by over 100 million Americans this year alone with high
profile appearances on both the Grammys and Oscars, the CMT 2004 Flameworthy Music Awards,
a Nashville Predators/Detroit Red Wings playoff game (performing the national anthem),
PBS' National Memorial Day Concert, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She won three
Grammys in February, bringing her total to seventeen - more than any other female artist
in the history of the award. Meanwhile, Krauss' duet with Brad Paisley on his single
"Whiskey Lullaby" continues its rise up the country chart with a bulleted #4
showing this week.
Alison Krauss + Union Station recently headlined the T Bone Burnett-produced Great High
Mountain tour, which also featured sets from Ralph Stanley and Union Station member Dan
Tyminski.
In other Alison Krauss + Union Station news: Krauss and Tyminski will return for the
second year in a row to host the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards in
Louisville, KY October 7. Both musicians are multiple IBMA Award winners.
Multi-instrumentalist Ron Block has also been tapped to deliver the keynote address at
IBMA this year. In June, Tyminski and Jerry Douglas performed at Eric Clapton's Crossroads
Guitar Festival at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX. Earlier that month, Douglas was named a
recipient of the National Heritage Fellowship, the nation's highest honor in the folk and
traditional arts, bestowed by the National Endowment for the Arts.
