Vincent's "Kentucky Borderline" Named IBMA 'Song of the Year' Honored for Contribution in IBMA 'Recorded Event'

Louisville, KY - In an unprecedented accomplishment, Rhonda Vincent, the woman the Wall Street Journal referred to as the 'Queen of Bluegrass' and affectionately called 'Mandolin Mama' by fans, has received the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) "Female Vocalist of the Year Award" for an unprecedented fifth time.

Vincent first stepped into the IBMA winner's circle in 2000, and garnered the "Female Vocalist of the Year" award. She captured the association's top award, "Entertainer of the Year," and once again, scored the "Female Vocalist of the Year" in 2001. The "Female Vocalist of the Year" award stayed in her hands again in 2002, and 2003. The win in 2003 set a record for consecutive wins, never before accomplished by an individual in any IBMA category. The 2004 win for Vincent, marks a historical event in IBMA awards for an individual. The IBMA began their awards presentations in 1990.

The IBMA recognized Vincent's songwriting, by awarding her "Song of the Year" for "Kentucky Borderline," co-written with Terry Herd.

Vincent, known throughout the bluegrass community as a person who has graciously lent both her voice and virtuoso mandolin playing to numerous artists' projects, was honored for her participation in the "Livin' Lovin' Losin' - Songs of the Louvin Brothers" as the project received the IBMA "Recorded Event" award for 2004. Her impeccable IBMA show performance of "Last Best Place," a song which was announced as Vincent's tribute to those who have lost their lives in the service of our country, solidified her place within the industry for years to come. "I felt that with all God has given to me this year, it would be appropriate to honor those who have given the most. I know there are families listening to the awards tonight that have lost family members, and I just wanted to let them know that I have not forgotten them," stated Vincent in an after the show interview.
