Lyrics 6 - "My Collection"

This was written in 1985 and recorded the first time in 1986, at the time of that farm crisis, and then another came along in 1998 so I re-recorded it in 1999 for this CD. The farm situation still hasn't gotten any better.

1. When you leave the main road
Just follow the signs
To a quaint little homestead
In the hundred year pines
Our grand-fathers raised them
Now they'll soon be bull-dozed
By a big corporation
When the deals finally closed

1st cho: so cry my sale gently
Do it with love if you can
Cry my sale gently
You're selling the heart,
Life and soul of a man

2. Here they come two and three
In each pick-up truck
They know it's one of their own
Who is down on his luck
It's becoming old hat
One more farm goes down
And the family is moving
To a small flat down-town

2nd cho: so cry my sale gently
Ease the pain on my last day
Cry my sale gently
Tomorrow this time
They'll have hauled it away

Tag: tomorrow this time
They'll have hauled it all away

Words And Music By: Red Johnson
(C)1997-Pub. Count Music BMI

This song is based on the old addage, "one man’s trash is another mans gold" there is always someone for every one, in this case the first love didn't work out but the second one did.

1. You walked her in your front door
And then pushed her out the back
In your eyes I guess-she was not more
Than another reject
Well she walked right in my front door
And that's where she's going to stay
Yes I’m doing very well, thank you
With what, you threw away

Cho:
What you threw away
Was not that far from having wings
And if you will listen close you'll hear
The love song my heart sings
Yes oh yes she is an angel
And it's she who makes my day
And I’m doing very well, thank you
With what you threw away

2. Now you're standing at my front door
Do you think she really fell ?
She saw you for what you really are
As far as I can tell
We just laid back nice and easy
And let love have its own way
And I’m doing very well, thank you
With what you threw away
