Lyrics 2 - "Blue Rose"

lg-bullet-gold.gif (1240 bytes) "The First Time I Heard Jesus"

Intro: The first time I heard Jesus
Was today because today He talked to me

I walked around the playground
Where people who are lost congregate
In that make believe happiness
I couldn't tell myself this is great
I was just a half a person, searching
Looking for a reason to be
And the first time I heard Jesus
Was today because today He talked to me

Cho: The first time I heard Jesus
I thought now there's a word that's kinda neat
And in every conversation
I used it in the language of the street
All my years of saying Jesus
Wasn't meant to compliment the Deity
The first time I heard Jesus
Was today because today He talked to me

I can't believe the heartache
Some people self inflict upon their self
When a better way of living
is in that dusty book upon the shelf
Why be just a half a person, searching
Looking for a reason to be
The first time I heard Jesus
Was today because today He talked to me

About 40 years ago I saw
"I Love You, My Name is Jesus "C"
on the side of a City bus and I thought
that was kinda unique, so I wrote this.

It was cold and It was raining
I was soaked to the skin
A stranger in town
I knew no one who'd take me in
The ragged wreck I was
No hope could I see
When I saw this Man appear
And His sweet voice said to me

Cho: Don't despair, I'm one who'll care
You're beautiful to me
And I love you just trust in me
My name is Jesus "C"

I saw again the battlefield
The enemy in view
Bullets flying everywhere
And there was nothing I could do
In hopelessness I cried
What chance could there be
When I saw this Man appear
And His sweet voice said to me--Cho

One I loved was taken from me
Life seemed worthless and cruel
I'd join her late that night
And I let my emotions rule
I climbed upon the bridge
And soon I'd be free
When I saw this Man appear
And His sweet voice said to me...Cho
