Lyrics 1 - "Blue Rose"

Words and music by: Red Johnson

This song was written over several years. I knew it had a good hook, but sometimes the theme doesn't gel. I finished it the night before we took it in the studio, and it was there the sax came into play.

Love ain't worth the pain and heartache
That's the way I used to think
They'd be there a dime a dozen
All I had to do was wink
You were not yet in the picture
And it's so true now what they say

For everyone there is someone

One who'll steal your heart away

What a lovely world I live in
Life was never kind before
When I think that's all there is
You keep coming up with more
Just a basking in your sweetness
A lucky loser on a roll
I recall my past and shudder
Once a wreck and now I’m whole

Chorus:
You made me over-overnight
Now every-everything is right
You've really wet my appetite
You made me over-overnight
You made me over-overnight
I'm higher than a satellite
I'm still in shock, but that's alright
You made me over-overnight

Words And Music By: Red Johnson
(C)1997-Pub. Count Music BMI

I've traveled through this world
Wondering what's around the bend
My guitar close by my side
My pal and my old friend
Today I got to thinking
When it's time for our last chord
Will we have to say good-bye
Or can we both go see the Lord

How can I sing for Jesus
Without my old guitar
I've never gone without it
At least not very far
When I leave this earth for heaven, Lord
One thing I’d like to do
Is hear it ring, with golden strings
And play and sing for you

Cho:

We'd play amazing grace
That's exactly what you've shown
There was peace in the valley
When I was hurting and alone
There's so many good old songs
I'm not sure where I would start
But my voice will raise
And sing thy praise
My god how great thou art

How can I sing for Jesus
Without my old guitar
I've never gone without it
At least not very far
Let me bring it with to heaven Lord
Cause it has feelings too
Then it can ring, with golden strings
And play and sing for you--we'll play

Cho;

As a musician, what ever you may
Play(I happen to play guitar) it's
Inconceivable to us that
Someday we will leave this earth
And leave our instruments behind.
There is a very strong bond
Between a musician and their
Instrument. And that bond cannot
Be broken. Many have tried.
