This tour was promoted by Mervyn Conn. In England we
would play theatres, concert halls and Opera Houses in Portsmouth, Eastbourne, Torquay,
Salisbury, Croybon, Nottingham, Hull, Newcastle, Darlington, Stoke on Trent, Reading,
Liverpool, Cambridge, Worthington and Norwich. In Scotland, Edinburgh and Glasgow. In
Northern Ireland, Derry and Belfast.
The shows would open with the Metric Stetsons, then
Vanessa Barrett. After her show she would introduce me and I would close the first half.
Slim Whitman would do the last half, his son Byron would be a part of his show.
Narvel fans were sprinkled through the audiences. Slim
fans were very kind to me. Highlights were the standing ovations and encores given me in
many cities throughout the tour such as Nottingham, Derry, Belfast and Glasgow. At
intermission and at the show's end, I'd join BCL Merchandising in the lobby and autograph
while they sold my CDs. I was usually among the last to leave the building. I was almost
mobbed while autographing in Liverpool.
This tour worked very well for me so chances are, there
will be another one in 2003.
Oct. 30th I flew back to St. Louis then drove the 200
miles on home to Loretta, a month after I left - My longest tour since Germany and Belgium
in 1979 - That time, Loretta, Stacia and Bub plus my band were with me.
