HANK WILLIAMS, JR. RETURNS TO ESPN'S MONDAY NIGHT
FOOTBALL WITH BRIAN SETZER AND NEW ALL-STAR BAND
Music Legend to Sing MNF Anthem for 19th Year; New Open Debuts Sept. 10
The names of the NFL superstars who have performed on
Monday Night Football the past two decades are constantly changing, but one name has
remained constant since 1989 Hank Williams, Jr. The legendary singer has earned
four Emmy awards (1991-1994) and national acclaim among fans for singing the anthem that
kicks off the NFL's weekly primetime showcase game. That legacy will continue for the 19th
year when Williams will perform the opening theme to ESPN's MNF this fall with a new
all-star band featuring singer/songwriter Brian Setzer and other popular artists.
Williams will again perform "All My Rowdy Friends Are Here on Monday Night"
based on his hit song "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight."
This year's version will offer a "boogie-woogie" and big-band music flare with
the addition of Setzer and 13 members of the horn section from the Brian Setzer Orchestra.
ESPN introduced the all-star band concept during its inaugural MNF season a year ago, and
this year's diverse collection of musicians is scheduled to feature new artists
representing rock 'n roll, pop, country and funk, including:
Guitarists Brian Setzer (Stray Cats/Brian Setzer Orchestra), Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi),
country music sensation Gretchen Wilson, and young phenom Drake Bell, the 21-year-old
actor/singer/songwriter from the popular Nickelodeon series Drake and Josh; Keyboardist
John Ondrasik (Five for Fighting); Funk bassist Bootsy Collins (Parliament Funkadelic);
and Drummer Cindy Blackman (drummer for Lenny Kravitz).
"The open was such a huge hit last fall, we knew we had to assemble another all-star
band to join Hank as ESPN's Monday Night Football continues to put its own special stamp
on this iconic music ritual that gets fans 'ready for some football' each Monday during
the NFL season," said Norby Williamson, executive vice president, production, ESPN.
Williams added: "Bootsy Collins, Gretchen Wilson, Richie Sambora...these are
definitely some of my rowdiest friends. With names like these in the open for Monday Night
Football, this year's theme will get everyone fired up for that pigskin."
The MNF opening video will feature team-specific lyrics and visuals each week based on the
17 regular-season ESPN match-ups. The taping will take place Monday, Aug. 20 at House of
Blues Las Vegas with all of the musicians. Setzer and John Colby are music directors for
the project with lyrics by Williams and Mike Szykowny. ESPN's Rick Paiva (producer) and
Chris Mantzaris (director) are overseeing production of the video with technical resources
provided by Stephen Levy of Habana Avenue.
The MNF video will debut prior to kickoff of ESPN's MNF regular season-opening
doubleheader Sept. 10 Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals (7 p.m. ET) and
Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers (10:15 p.m.).
In 2006, ESPN kicked off its first season of MNF with Williams and an all-star band
performing the opening theme. Collins is the only returning player this year from the
line-up that also included guitarists Chris Burney (Bowling for Soup), Rick Nielsen (Cheap
Trick), Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Steven Van Zandt (E Street Band); keyboardists Little
Richard and Bernie Worrell (Parliament Funkadelic); fiddler Charlie Daniels; saxophonist
Clarence Clemons (E Street Band); and drummers Angela Webster (The Believers) and
?uestlove (The Roots).
With more than 70 albums to his credit, Williams has a fascinating career to reflect upon
for a legend still in his prime. His discography chronicles a bold profile of growth from
adored offspring of a legendary father, to titan of the modern country rock movement in
his own right. For more than a decade, America has come to its collective feet each fall
Monday night when this larger than life superman of a musician looks into the camera and
unleashes the national anthem for viewers of Monday Night Football 'Are you ready
for some football?' Those simple words have won Williams an entirely new generation of
fans and given him the distinction of being the first country performer to ever win an
Emmy.
ESPN'S MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
ESPN's inaugural season of Monday Night Football was the most-watched series in cable
television history and the only NFL series nominated for a 2007 Sports Emmy in the
Outstanding Live Sports Series category. The 17 games were the biggest 17 household
audiences for cable television in 2006 and nine of the top 10 on the list of cable's
biggest household audiences ever (excludes breaking news), including the N.Y.
Giants-Dallas Cowboys game (10/23/06) which ranked No. 1 with 11,807,000 homes based on a
12.8 rating. For the season, MNF averaged a 9.9 rating and 9,109,000 homes (12,325,000
P2+), increases of 39%, 43% and 41%, respectively, compared to 2005 ESPN Sunday Night
Football; the accompanying "Monday Night Surround" content on ESPN.com sparked an increase of Monday traffic to the site
of 52%.

A LABOR OF LOVE |

Most people
dont walk 60 miles on a typical weekend, but for Trisha Yearwood, her participation
in last weekends Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in Chicago proved to be a
labor of love. Many of my fans know I have been training with several of my
girlfriends for the past few months. Everyone knows someone who has battled cancer, so
this seemed like the perfect way to show support for cancer research and push myself at
the same time, noted Trisha during an interview with US99/Chicago following the

T.G. SHEPPARD & KELLY LANG BECOME MR. & MRS.
T.G. SHEPPARD
A NIGHT OF HAPPINESS & TOGETHERNESS
At 7:30PM/CST tonight (8-21-07) in Gallatin, Tn. as the
sun set over beautiful Old Hickory Lake, there was music and happiness all around the
guests who were invited to one of the most beautiful homes on the lake, to celebrate to
wedding of our friends, Kelly Lang and T.G. Sheppard.
T.G. came out to the gazebo with his son who was his best man, and waited for his bride to
be, as she came down the steps with her children to meet her husband to be. She was
dressed in a beautiful white full-length gown, and she was as beautiful as I have ever
seen her, and T was the handsome prince smiling as he took her hand and led her into the
gazebo to take their vows. They exchanged their wedding vows, placed the wedding rings on
each others hands, and finally the minister said the magic words that we had all waited to
hear, "I now pronounce you man and wife, and then told T that he could kiss his
bride." If you will look at the smiles in the above picture, you will see the
happiness that will make their marriage complete. They have been knowing each other many
years, and have been dating for over 6 years, so all of us in the industry know that this
marriage was meant for each of them to live happily ever after.
They went into the mansion for a few minutes then returned to greet all of their friends
and guests. Then the awesome wedding cake was brought out and T and Kelly brought everyone
up on the steps and balcony of this beautiful home, where they cut the cake and again
pledged their love for each other, with the exchange of cake to each other and the
champagne toast that followed. In the many years that I have known T.G. and Kelly, I
cannot recall ever seeing them this happy. In T.G., Kelly has a caring and loving husband,
who was there for here through her serious health issues, and Kelly is the shoulder and
love for T to be able to lean on. Happiness is not something that is bought with money, it
is given freely with time and togetherness, and tonight I was envious to see this much
happiness and togetherness within these two wonderful human beings. God Has Blessed them
and touched their hearts and minds and souls with his loving hand.
Some of those in attendance for the wedding were the members of T.G.'s band, Ric, Jimmy,
Tim, Kenny, Smoke, and Greg, The Oak Ridge Boys, Lorrie Morgan as beautiful as ever, and
her son, who I think looks like his Mom, Helen Cornelius, Jeannie Seely, Pete Fisher and
his wife, Roxanne Russell Atwood and her husband Tim, who is a member of the Grand Ole
Opry Staff Band, The Mayor of Hendersonville Scott Foster and his wife. I am sure that I
have missed many of those that were there, and many that I did not know, so please forgive
me.
Mr. & Mrs. T.G. Sheppard has a wonderful ring to it, does it not. And now they will
spend the rest of their live's together, loving and caring for each other in all of their
needs and with the love of The Good Lord to support them through their long life.
Congratulations Kelly and T for allowing us to witness your magic night.

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME
8-19-07
If you
were not able to listen into the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree last night, or you forgot,
you missed a very special night in country music, the reunion of one of the most dynamic
duets in our music industry, DAVID FRIZZELL & SHELLY WEST. They have and still do, a
very special chemistry between them that we have missed for 25 years, and last night's
performance on the ETMJ is evident that we will be hearing much more from David and
Shelly.
David looked great and his voice was right on the money. He is the true entertainer,
singer in country music and continues to bring the name of Frizzell to the forefront of
country music, and it does not hurt to be the brother of Lefty Frizzell.
Shelly looked fabulous and sounded as awesome as in the days that they were the CMA Award
winning duet. She did not miss a beat in this reunion of these two giants in country
music. But to say that she looked great, would not be enough, she was beautiful, and they
both sang like it was just yesterday that they had recorded "Your The Reason God Made
Oklahoma."
The record shop was filled to capacity to witness this super reunion, and none of us were
disappointed. I could see things happening once again for both of them and I am keeping my
fingers crossed that one of the major labels in town will also see the great potential of
this powerful duet team.
Congratulations David and Shelly and we can't wait to hear more great music from you.

I sat with him and drank coffee while he had dinner that evening. He was kinda

Actually, so was Richard Nixon when we met him.
The man on my right is the restaurant owner, the man in white (front center) is the chef,

AARON TIPPIN HELPS BRING LEGENDARY WORLD WAR II PLANE
TO NEW ORLEANS
(Nashville, TN) Last week, country music star
Aaron Tippin brought along a special guest for his performance at the Disabled American
Veterans (DAV) benefit in New Orleans, Louisiana. A restored World War II B-25 Mitchell
bomber, also known as "Panchito," traveled in the air and water to reach her
destination
and it was Aaron Tippin who helped get her there.
The B-25 bombers are famed for being a major force in bringing hope back to the country
during WWII. It was the B-25 that Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle chose to use in a
raid against the Japanese after their attack on Pearl Harbor. "Doolittle's Raid"
was deemed a success thanks to the sixteen B-25 bombers used in the attack.
Aaron Tippin, also a licensed pilot, helped fly one of the restored B-25s from Oshkosh,
Wisconsin to New Orleans. Once there Aaron, equipped with his very own "Working Man's
PhD," helped load the plane onto a barge on Lake Pontchartrain. After being loaded,
the legendary aircraft was taken to Spanish Plaza and put on display for the DAV benefit
show.
"It was a great pleasure to be part of the team that brought 'Panchito' as a gift
from the DAV to the city of New Orleans" says Aaron. "Man
it was hot!"
After the aircraft's trip was over, Aaron performed several of his hit songs for the DAV
benefit. "Where the Stars and Stripes and The Eagle Flies" was included in the
performance, an appropriate song for "Panchito" and her history.
The DAV organization was honored to have Aaron on hand for the voyage. "Aaron is a
long time advocate of our service members and veterans and his participation in getting
'Panchito' here is greatly appreciated" said Arthur H. Wilson, National Adjutant/CEO
of DAV. "His music has long evoked patriotism and promoted the American way."
The entire trek was filmed by Sleeping Dog Productions for the DAV. A televised
documentary is being planned for later in the year.
Aaron Tippin entered the music scene sixteen years ago with "You've Got To Stand For
Something," a solid workingman's anthem that quickly established him as a true
spokesman for the American people. Between 1990 and 1997, he had seven hit records and
created such memorable singles as "There Ain't Nothin' Wrong With The Radio,"
"That's As Close As I'll Get To Loving You," and "I Got It Honest."
With his success and ability to relate to the people, he traveled to Saudi Arabia with Bob
Hope in the early 90s to become the first singer to entertain the troops during the Gulf
War.
