I hope your week has gone well and you're
enjoying your weekend. Can you believe it's almost Halloween and soon...
UGH... it'll be Christmas! I shudder to think. I don't know about y'all,
but I wasn't done with summer yet! Guess it doesn't matter, it's done
with me.
Newsletter Mailings I've had some difficulty lately with the way Zinester has sent out
my email alerts to y'all about the news being posted. I have no way of
really knowing if everyone has gotten the notice and while tech support
says that 99% of you should have gotten it, they can't really tell for
sure either. There's 2 email announcements from last month that are
still sitting there as though they had never been sent out, yet I know
that a lot of you got those mailings, I can't tell if everyone did. So,
I've decided to resend them. IF you've already gotten them before, just
delete it and bear with me. If you didn't get it before, I'd like to
hear from you so I have some sort of number to feed to tech support..
and finally get them of the "post" board. Any questions or comments
email me at marli@mkoc.com
Thanks!
CD Links
I'd like to get a little feedback if you find the time. I'm trying out
some new CD links from Amazon. Now... they do make the pages load a
little slower and I'm not sure how much of a headache that'll be for
most. I've got the feeling those of us who live here in the sticks are
the last ones still on a slower DSL connection. At any rate, I'd like to
know if you like the links better or if you prefer text or the older
graphic links. I do this for you to enjoy and to make it easy for you to
find the CDs you like... God knows I don't make enough money to pay for
the time it takes me to make any of the links.. so it's up to y'all.
What's your pleasure? Write me a

Porter Wagoner Update
Sent from Marty Martel
This
press release is not one that I enjoy sending but I am asking each
of you to take the minute that you read this email, to stop and ask
our Good Lord to bless and touch Porter Wagoner with his miraculous
hand to cure him of his lung cancer. I believe strongly in prayer
as each of you do, and I feel that it should be done now by all of
us. Thank you, and please also keep Porter's family in your prayers
and prayer lines.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame
member Porter Wagoner was released to hospice care Friday.
The 80-year-old country singer was
recently diagnosed with lung cancer. He was hospitalized on Oct. 15.
Earlier this year, Wagoner celebrated his 50th year at the
long-running live country music show.
I received this email from Robyn Young
and I hope you will attend this event. The following is information
on when and where. I look forward to seeing you there. Put this
date on your calendar.
On November 10th there
will be a book signing at the Ernest Tubb
Record Shop at Music Valley Drive for the
new book that is out about my dad. That same night will also be a
Reunion of the " Faron Young Deputy's" which will
feature many if not all of the talented musicains who played on the
road with my dad over his 40 something year career. Caping off the
evening will be the E.T. Midnight Jamboree hosted by Darrell McCall
( former Deputy frontman) . Sometime during the pre-jamboree radio
portion. My new band " NextaKyn " will take the stage to play a set
. I will also be guesting on the Radio portion to do a couple of my
Dad's old classic hits.
I invite all of you to come out and
enjoy the evening, which promises to be a night of memories. The
book is awesome.
Thanks,
Robyn

Gary Allan goes for the visceral
thrill of making music.
Country musician Gary Allan
Onstage or in the studio, the California-born, Nashville-based
artist performs with an emotional, gritty edge. His life and
surroundings, as well as the batch of CDs playing on his
changer, inform his music.
I seriously
wanted to like Gary Allan’s latest album, Living Hard. I’ve been
to more of his concerts than can be counted on one hand. I
thought his previous four albums were outstanding and I wanted
this one to be outstanding as well. But it didn’t work out that
way and I was disappointed. The consensus amongst everyone I had
spoken with about the album turned out to be the same. I should
have been prepared after the comments he made, describing the
album as having more edge than his previous, already edgy
albums.
Gary wants to know what YOU think
of his new music. Now you can tell him in your own words! Just
click
here or go to the Fans page and call in. Tell Gary what you
love about the new album, what your favorite song is, or let him
know how much fun you had at his show last night! Please
remember this for all audience to hear. Gary can’t wait for you
to call and be a part of his mobile network!

GARY ALLAN SINGS
ABOUT COMPLEX LIFE CHOICES ON NEW CD 'LIVING HARD'
By
MICHAEL McCALL For The Associated Press
As country music’s steely eyed tough
guy with a tender heart, Gary Allan never has shied away from
difficult subjects or emotional truths. On ‘’Living Hard,'’ he
examines a man’s heart and motivations at an age where
responsibilities become impossible to ignore.
Gary
Allan’s new CD, Living Hard, is out this month. He tells CMT
Insider why the project was therapy for him, and in a rare
interview since his wife’s death, he talks candidly about
dealing with her suicide. Tune in Sat., Oct. 27 2:00 PM ET/PT.

Note from Marli: I bought Joe's "Little
Things" for my Ma for her birthday and as with all of his CDs, she just loves it.. as
do I. I highly recommend this CD for your collection! It's one of those "must
have" CDs.
The neighbors complain that I'm too big to be coming to their doors
with my Trick or Treat bag. Too bad I don't drink anymore. Alcohol
really helped my Halloween enthusiasm.
Lately, if I dress up for the occasion, it's not in a regular costume...
It's just some flotsam and jetsam from the back of the closet. I hate it
when people ask me what I'm supposed to be.
My sister sent us this note"
"I am going to wear a costume to hand out tricks
or treats to the neighborhood kids as I usually do, however, this year
I'm going to have to make do with half of one costume and half of
another, since money is tight. I have part of a "Grim Reaper" suit and
half of a duck outfit so I'm going as....... 'The Grim Duck'. Happy
Halloween! Love, Val"
I'm sure that hers will be better than our recent
attempts. Misty was sort of a Dolly Parton, and I was some kind of
gangster/dentist.
I know the neighbors will give me a hard
time in this getup.
