Two Pennies + 2-Cents Worth of Opinions Add Up To A Gold Mine for Indies A few weeks ago, I posted a letter from the
Tennessean in the news about major lables saying they couldn't afford to sell artist's CDs
overseas.. then I posted my 2cents worth.
Afterwards, I got an email from my dear
friend, Alex Cullum of Norway putting in his 2 cents worth.. we all get a few pennies
worth around here. ;)
My comment was:
"It makes sense, to a point, that the labels consider money above all else but it
also limits the reach of their artists. As long as they continue to think like they do, it
leaves more room, a higher demand and well deserved paychecks for the independant artists
who are glorified overseas and held in as high esteem as any US star. Not only the indies
that are new to the business, but the ones the bigger labels have forgotten; like Dale
Watson who is a hero in Malta or Don Williams who is a giant in Africa. Then there's
Narvel Felts who is booked every summer to tour Europe.. fans come out by the thousands
and buy the CDs by the tons. So, big stars will make more money staying in the US, but the
"unlabeled" will make many more fans across the world and they're happy doing
so."
Alex wrote:
I would just like to point out two sets of Indie artists who are extremely popular in
Europe... Paul Mateki and his wife Helen, and Jack Blanchard with Misty Morgan.
These are just two instances where the 'Indie' is not only 'at home' in Europe, but are
also well known.
Paul and Helen spend a lot of time in Europe...especially in Holland, which is their
vitual homebase when on the road.
Jack and Misty...unlike Paul and Helen...have never been to Europe, but their fan base
goes way back to the mid 70's.
I regularly get mail from fans when I play their music on my program.
Jack and Misty do their own marketing, through regular updates on 'My Space'. They have
their own website where their records can be bought.
All through Europe in the summer ...country festivals are popular, and are very well
attended.
The main festivals in Norway are usually sold out.
Just wanted to add my 'twopenny's worth'. LOTSALUUUUV - Alex of Boots 'n' Saddles

Artists to Check OutFans and
singers alike should check out these artists. There are some great songwriters as well as
vocalists and this is my way of helping them gain a little attention and maybe a boost in
their careers as artists.
One
Mile South
"One Mile South"
One Mile South is a combination of three great songwriters who have created a sound that
stands out! No cookie cutter music here. They are a groove based Country trio with as
strong a presence acoustically as with full back up. With strong support from Country
stations nationwide, they are destined to take their place amongst the great
singer/songwriters of our time," says Abby Montgomery, President - RowHouse Records.
(AngryCountry.com)
Mike Shiflett
"Love Is Like A Hurricane"
I have spent many years in Los Angeles as a studio singer. That means I sing
professionally and have also toured and worked with recording artists that you would
know... I am not trying to sound cocky or arrogant here, but the years have taught me a
great deal about the "business of music" and what it requires. The songs on this
CD come from experiences in and around the music business. I have written and performed on
this CD with Terry Williams who was the lead guitar player with "Kenny Rogers and the
First Edition". Terry is a wonderful person and very very talented
player/writer/producer and singer. I have also sung many commercial jingles throughout the
years... Levi 501 Blues, CBS Network ID, GMC, Jordache Jeans, Club Med, Burger King and
many others. I also write and sing gospel songs.
Thank you for listening! Mike Shiflett
Wendell
Radke
"The Traveling Cowboy"
Wendell has been writing songs for over 20 years. He has had a few songs published and is
associated with BMI. Wendell wrote the title song to this album (track 3) which was
released by Richard Schulz. Other writers on this CD include, George LaFlame, Richard
Schulz, MT Wall, Mitford Vijay Khan, Phil Coley, and Ray R. Jones.
Kenneth Brian
"Brighter Day"
Since moving to Nashville Kenneth has been bringing his talents back and forth to clubs
across the country, into the studios of Music Row writing for Sony/ATV publishing, and
Starring as Hank Williams Sr. in Hank Williams: Lost Highway at the Zachary Scott Theatre
in Austin, TX. His genuine authenticity and modern edge have attracted listeners from all
over the world. Perhaps the biggest compliment to his career, Kenneth refuses to sacrifice
himself, his morals, and what his music stands for:.. The preservation and charge forward
of music that the hard working, fast living, and heartbroken can all relate to.

Music fans flock to Montgomery to honor Hank Williams
By Alvin Benn
Montgomery Advertiser
02 January 2007
Hank Williams fans from across the country
began arriving Saturday in Montgomery to take part in a holiday weekend of activities to
honor the memory of the legendary country music singer.
Blake and Kerrian (cq) Clayton had a good reason to drive 11 hours from their home in
Peoria, Ill. they became engaged at the Hank Williams Museum three years ago.
Asked if he got down on one knee to propose, Blake nodded in the affirmative while his
wife responded with a big smile.
The engagement became official in front of the 1952 baby blue Cadillac in which Williams
died on Jan. 1, 1953 in Oak Hill, W.Va. as he was being driven to Ohio for a concert.
He was only 29 at the time of his death, but his legend continues to grow half a century
later and Montgomery continues to play a big role in keeping his memory alive.
The 54th annual memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the Oakwood Cemetery
Annex, where Williams grave is located next to his wife, Audrey.Fans from as far
away as Wisconsin visited Williams grave Saturday afternoon and many planned to
remain in Montgomery to take part in a variety of activities.
Some of the events have been closed to the public because advance reservations were filled
weeks ago, according to Beth Birtley, manager of the Hank Williams Museum at 118 Commerce
St.
That includes a New Years Eve party tonight and a visit to Williams gravesite
at Oakwood Cemetery. The party is sold out, but Midnight in Montgomery at the
cemetery is open to the public.
Birtley credits Lee Sentell, director of the Alabama Department of Tourism and Travel,
with increasing the crowds by printing the Hank Williams Trail brochure, which
outlines places of importance in the singers meteoric career.
The trail brochure has really helped us and an Associated Press article was printed
in newspapers all over the country, Birtley said. I think at least 50 percent
of the people coming this year read the article.
At 2 p.m. Monday, a historical marker will be displayed at the cemetery. It will be
erected at the Williams gravesite at a later date, Birtley said.
A steady stream of fans arrived at the cemetery throughout the day Saturday taking
pictures and paying their respects.
A fan from Texas placed a large gold sunflower on Williams grave with a ribbon that
read We Love Hank And His Music.
James Webb of Maumelle, Ark. was in Montgomery for the funeral of a young relative whose
grave is only a few feet from where Williams was buried in 1953. He and his wife, Laura,
and their daughter, D.J., spent several minutes at Williams grave.
Hes a legend to so many people, James Webb said. This is the first
time weve been here to pay our respects.
Chris Partain, 33, of Athens, Ga., said Williams songs contain the pure
essence of country music and there are no age differences when it comes
to appreciation of his lyrics.
He cut to the chase in his songs, said Partain. There was no fluff in
his music.
Partain said he bought a box set of Williams hits for a young cousin and she
was in tears when I gave it to her.

PovertyNeck Hillbillies Announce Departure >From Rust RecordsCONTACT:
Christy Walker - AristoMedia - 615-269-7071 ext.
123 - cwalker@aristomedia.com
Shawn Pennington - 615-491-8285 - scpenn@mac.com
(Nashville, Tennessee) Due to the current restructuring of Rust Records, The PovertyNeck
Hillbillies have announced their departure from the label's artist roster.
The band, which includes Abby Abbondanza, Chris Higbee, Dave Cramer, Ryan Lucotch, Jeff
Volek and David Guthrie, has established great success as a young act.
Prior to their relationship with Rust Records, the band released two albums entitled Don't
Look Back and Hillbillies State of Mind. These albums sold over 50,000 copies, largely due
to the Hillbillies' devoted fan base in the northeast.
In 2006, the group released their Rust Records debut album, a CD/DVD package that included
footage from a syndicated WQED/PBS concert special. During this past year's CMA Music
Festival, the album was the 3rd top seller, only being outsold by Carrie Underwood and
Phil Vassar. They also took the title of top independent seller for the week.
Their "Mr. Right Now" video, featuring Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, was in
the GAC Top 20 Countdown for a total of thirteen weeks, eight of which were #2.
The band continues to hold an exclusive representation agreement with the Nashville based
agency, Buddy Lee Attractions, Inc. (BLA). They are now being managed by Shawn Pennington
who may be reached at 615-491-8285 or scpenn@mac.com.
The band continues to have a heavy tour schedule and an upcoming album is already in the
works. While no obligation to Rust Records exists, management is currently seeking new
opportunities.

Rustie BlueDon't Come Cryin' to
Rustie Blue
Rustie Blue has
released Dont Come Cryin, the final single from the Chip Chip
album. Dont Come Cryin can also be found on Mark Trails comp
disc #21.
Dont Come Cryin, written by Bobby Atkins, is sassy country/rock
song with lots of attitude. When I first heard the demo, I immediately loved
it! says Rustie. I did change the song quite a bit from the demo to make it
more my own. I've always loved this song and am glad that I'm having a chance to release
it as a single!
You wont see Rustie come cryin, even though she is accident prone! At a recent
show, Rustie was on stage helping sweep off some music speakers and got her hair caught in
a hand held Dirt Devil sweeper. It completely rolled up on top her head! Rustie doesn't
need to add any comedy to her show because it comes natural!
Rustie is currently recording her new album, Born Again Country which is scheduled to be
released this spring. The album has been running behind schedule, as Rustie has been doing
a lot of work with different charities. Fans will be able to catch Rustie performing on
the Carnival Cruise Line in the spring of 2008.
MP3s of "Dont Come Cryin", a copy of the Chip Chip album,
interviews, and print quality photos available to media by request. Rustie Blue's music is
also available on our media only download page.

Peter Britt
Hello everyone,
Well, it's time I started getting the message out to everyone about my upcoming book. It
is three years in the making for me and it is being published and should be out in about
5-6 weeks. The book is titled "All That I Am, I Think!"
The book will be available initially at places like amazon.com, waldenbooks, Barnes &
Nobles and every online book seller in the world.
The book will also be available directly through Krystal Vision Productions (me) and
autographed copies will be made available also. I am also planning on my publisher setting
up book signings, mostly in Colorado for starters. Here in Grand Junction, Denver etc.
The book is about well, me. My thoughts on many aspects of life such as:
Life: Dreams: Passion: Sex: Anger: Pain: Men: Women: Death: Life here and elsewhere:
Rights & Wrongs and more. There is a minimal serving of psychology, astrophysics,
cosmology and much, much, much more in the book. The women have already read some of the
test chapters tell me it is "The woman's nightstand companion." You will want
your husband/boyfriend to read it also. Trust me. :)
The book is being pre-sold through me directly, so if you would like one of the first
copies, send an e-mail this address and let me
know. I will let you know how to pre-order. Thus far, I have around 25 women who have been
reading some of the chapters for me to give me their unfettered opinions and it is being
very well accepted with a 100% approval rating from my test readers.
I invite you to inquire about pre-ordering the book and get one before they are published.
The first 100 books will be numbered as such. This WILL be a bestseller, so don't wait,
get your first issue copy. :)
Thanks very much and I look forward to hearing from you.
