Hi All, Welcome new subscribers.. artists and fans alike. There's not a ton of news tonight, but certainly enough to entertain ya a bit and introduce you to some new artists and new websites. I figure many of y'all are watchin' the Super Bowl tonight.. I know Ma is! Man, that lady is a sports nut! I didn't inherit that enthusiasm for sports from her. I'm a movie gal... I'll take a good movie any day over a ball game. The closest I get to sports is I love watchin' that new Ballroom Dancing With the Stars. There's a football player on this season and he's been learning some great moves.. even took a crash course in ballet to help him with his dancing! Gotta give him credit there and he's been doing better each week on the dance floor.
OK.. this is about music, not TV or sports or what I like to watch. I'm gonna sign off now cuz I wanna be rested up when "Dangerous Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy" comes on!

Nashville newcomer, Jamey Johnson is off to a flying start. I heard his song, "The Dollar while in my car and the song grabbed me from the start with his deep vocals and strong traditional sound.. and as usual, the DJ neglected to say WHO the artist was. I would still be wondering but as luck would have it, Jamey is signed with BNA records and I received the news from them about Jamey's new CD, "The Dollar". It still didn't hit me that it was the song I'd heard on the radio, but I jumped in to hear songclips.. Track #1 was the song, "The Dollar". I clicked and in the first few notes, I knew it was the man I'd been wanting to know about.
Jamey's CD was released Jan. 31st and is available in all stores as well as online.

but they don't yet have a large enough staff to keep up with all the requests for CDs.

THE BOUNCING BALL.
Back in the 70's or 80's (I'm no expert on time), our bus broke down in Valdosta, Georgia.
While waiting for the rig to be fixed, I called the local country station and talked to a DJ I knew from phone conversations.
His radio name was Gary Monroe. His regular name is Gary Graves.
We went to meet him, and he introduced us to Joel Mathis, a talented local country singer.
We went to Joel's house, met his wife JoAn and the kids, and somebody handed me a flattop guitar.
Gary set up a mike and a tape recorder, and I pitched a bunch of my songs to Joel. We wound up working together on some of them. (During the past couple of years we've remastered and released some of Joel's music. He passed away in 1999,
and we think his music should be heard.)
Okay. 20 or 25 years later, and I get a CD in the mail from Gary Graves. It contains an hour or so of me pitching songs to Joel on that day, way back when. What a surprise!
I'm singing a whole flock of original songs, and then I hear myself sing something I don't remember. It was called "Follow the Bouncing Ball". I said to Misty, across the breakfast table: "Hey! That's great! I sang a Roger Miller song!"
She said something sweet like: "You wrote that yourself, dummy".
Well, I may have imagined the dummy part, but after a few minutes I remembered that I DID write it
I had completely forgotten the song, but now I can't get the damn thing out of my head, We're just going to HAVE to record it. These are the lyrics:
"Got no reason,
Got no rhyme.
Kickin' a can down the road o' time.
Follow the Bouncing Ball,
Sing an old song.
I don't mind if you tag along.
Saturday matinee,
give away a funny book,
free of charge.

Marty Daniels may be a new name on the Irish country music scene just now, but all of that is about to change thanks to a fantastic new album which he has just launched on the market.
The new album titled A Little Bluer Than That, was recorded at Gene Stuart’s North Sound Studio in Dungannon, and contains no less than 14 tracks, each of them a gem. Produced by Eugene Smith, the album boasts a line-up of Ireland’s top session players, among them Patsy Mc Dermott, Martin Cleary, Charlie Arkin, Marty Pollock and Tony McEvanna.
Marty Daniels began his career in country music as Donal Lyons and following a very successful appearance on the TG4 Glór Tíre talent competition, he went on to compete in the national talent competition
Search For A New Country Star, reaching the final and finishing in the top three after a very close contest.
Marty said, “I learned a lot from appearing in those series and intend to put that experience to good use when I take to the road with my new band in April”. News of Marty’s talent spread among the country music fraternity and soon the offers started pouring in. When Bob Wootton (lead guitar player and vocalist with the Johnny Cash Show for over 30 years) toured Ireland last year he chose Marty as his support act, and was loud in his praise for the Clonmel man for the way he could communicate with his audience.
“Marty certainly has great stage presence and his ability to sing a wide range of material will stand him in good stead for the future. He’s a singer that could hold his own with the best that Nashville has to offer” said Bob. High praise indeed from a man who performed alongside one of the greatest in the business, Johnny Cash.
Following Bob’s comments, Marty decided that he would like to visit Nashville, the Home of Country Music, and check out the scene there.
Thanks to Promoter and Tour Operator Hugh O’Brien, Marty not only got the opportunity to visit Nashville, but to also perform there. Marty was accompanied by top Irish band, Off The Cuff and got the opportunity to display his talents at some of the top spots in Downtown Nashville namely, Legends Corner, Robert’s, The Stage and Tootsies Orchid Lounge.
Marty was conscious of the fact that he was standing on the stage where some of the superstars of country music had performed, and still do.
Artists such as Roger Miller, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, and many more began their career’s on these very stages before going on to achieve great success in the music business.
Marty is hopeful that his performance on these hallowed stages will lead to similar success for him. And judging by his progress to-date, there is no doubt he will.

Today he’s Marty Daniels.
