| Hi All, I'm beginning to think I should write up the intro to the news first
rather than last... I'm much more positive when I start writing up the news but by the
time I'm done, I'm too tired to be witty (like I ever was?) and too tired to chat. All I
can think of is getting off this chair and get my feet up... boo-hoo.. thanks for comin'
to my pity party. OK, I'll pep it up. The news is filled with country music news from
around the globe just waitin' for y'all to dig in, so enjoy!
OH yeah! Before I forget... WELCOME to all of you new
subscribers and thanks for tryin' out MKOC! I hope y'all will enjoy it and hang around
awhile. The #s have been climbing steadily since I changed the news format and post it
online rather than making ya download it. LOL.. go figure! I know the artists are always
happy to find new fans to read about them, listen to their music and most of all, buy
their CDs! The Indies really have to depend on fans to keep them goin' and y'all are the
best bunch of fans ever so on behalf of all artists, stars and Indies alike... THANKS!!

Seeks CD There is a fan in search of the
CD, "No Easy Horses" by Schuyler, Knoblock and Bickhartd. I used to have it but
it must have "disappeared" in one of Ma's past garage sales. I haven't been able
to find one online so I thought I'd add this message to the news and send it out to the
cosmos. If anyone out there has this CD and would be willing to sell it to the fan,
contact me at marli@mkoc.com and I'll give you the
info needed to contact the fan in need.

Rhonda Vincent Bluegrass Cruise
While most music artists spend their free time lounging in their
tour bus; Rhonda Vincent goes from stage to her business office aboard her
state-of-the-art Martha White Bluegrass Express. Creating a new way to introduce her brand
of bluegrass music to new audiences, in the nation's fastest growing travel industry of
cruising, and utilize her college skills to expand her career goals.
On February 12, 2006, she proved her business savvy, when over 240 bluegrass fans set sail
with Vincent and her band "The Rage", as they hosted the first ever bluegrass
cruise to the Mexican Rivera, on the Carnival Cruise Ship "PRIDE".
The Six-Time Female Vocalist of the Year for the International Bluegrass Music
Association, and Grammy nominated entrepreneur, deems her first bluegrass cruise a
tremendous success. Vincent says, "We were excited about our first cruise, and we
knew we had 20 years experience hosting a festival, but concerned if that experience would
transfer to a cruise ship. We held our breath each day, expecting the phone to ring, with
at least a few problems. Instead, there wasn't one call or complaint. The entire seven
days went without incident, and exceeded all our expectations for a first cruise!"
The seven day cruise to the Mexican Rivera set sail on Sunday, February 12, 2006, to visit
the same ports of Mexico as the famed TV show "The Love Boat"; Puerto Vallarta,
Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas. When asked what made her cruise something special, Vincent
replied, "There's more than the normal cruise activities. We have performances each
night, workshops during the day, and continuous jam sessions 24 hours a day. My band and I
were involved in every activity to insure that each person had the ultimate bluegrass
cruise experience. In addition, we performed a private concert for the dining staff and a
pool side show for everyone to enjoy! Bluegrass music became a new discovery to many
aboard the Carnival cruise ship!"
Following this success, additional cruises are planned for February 2007 and July 2007 to
the Bahamas and Alaska. Dubbed "The NEW Queen of Bluegrass" by The Wall Street
Journal, Rhonda Vincent may very well earn a new title as Queen of the Bluegrass Cruises!
A complete photo diary of the week long Mexican Rivera bluegrass cruise is available at www.bluegrasscruise.com

WALK THE LINE
The new film, "Walk the Line," is highly entertaining and fully deserves the
accolades it has received from critics and punters alike. Johnny Cash's son John R Cash
recently had this to say in the "USA Weekend" publication, which gives an
interesting insight into the closeness between father and son....
"My dad never got to see the final cut, but he had great faith that Joaquin Phoenix,
as both an actor and singer, could pull off playing him. He saw how Sissy Spacek portrayed
Loretta Lynn in "Coal Miner's Daughter" in 1980, and he was greatly impressed.
To have his own singing voice come out of Joaquin's mouth? That wouldn't feel honest to
Dad.
"Dad lived in a complex balance. It would tear at our hearts to see him struggle with
sadness and personal demons, all the while trying to be the very best father and husband
he could be. And he was just as devoted to his music. On the way home from my mother's
funeral, just four months before he himself died, Dad told me, 'I have to get to the
studio.' And I understood why: Music was his healer.
Contrary to his brooding image my dad loved a good laugh. He was big on telling funny
stories about his family and friends. Dad would chuckle when he'd tell me how Bob Dylan
acted like a silly kid when they first met. He burst into Dad's hotel room and began
jumping on the bed, shouting, "I met Johnny Cash! I finally met Johnny Cash!"
He walked the line with his public positions, too. He was welcome in every president's
White House, from Richard Nixon to George W. Bush. And I was there to meet them all with
him. When I was a baby, the White House staff allowed my mother to put me down for a nap
while my parents talked with Nixon and first lady Pat. I have seen letters from all of
these presidents to my father, each showing their respect and appreciation. Every one of
them treated him with admiration.
At the same time, I never heard him publicly endorse or oppose a war, or speak out as an
anti-war activist. He supported the troops by performing for them. But I know that,
privately, he never supported any war, including the current one. He was a deeply
spiritual man. He always thought world leaders should come up with other ideas.
I played guitar on stage for him and often acted as a personal assistant. We'd travel the
world for adventure. We were best friends. I miss my dad terribly. I can't call him when I
need him, but I see Johnny Cash every day. He will live as long as the world is intrigued
by his magical ability to walk the line -- when Dad was asked what he would like to be
remembered for, he said he'd like to be remembered as a good father. To his family, this
is his greatest gift. And even though his greatest gift to the world may
arguably be his music, I believe his faith and perseverance offer just as strong a legacy.

ASPIRION ASPIRES TO GREAT HEIGHTS
Independent record label Aspirion has already created waves with the signing of Collin
Raye, and the forward-thinking label has announced a healthy line-up of stars who they'll
be releasing music on in the near future including the great Mel McDaniel, whose album
"Reloaded" is released on April 25th. European fans will get a sneak preview on
the March Hotdisc as Mel's risque but very funny track "Plastic Girl" gets a
release to radio exclusively. Tim Aaron and John Corbett will have music released in March
and April and if you are thinking you know the name of John Corbett ... you're right. He's
the actor from Sex In The City and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
Cowboy Bill Martin, Kathie Baillie (formerly from Baillie & The Boys), Robin English
and T Graham Brown will all be releasing product on Aspirion later in the year. Aspirion's
will also be selectively looking for new & unique artists to build the Label's New
Artist roster. The label also is actively looking for completed CD product to distribute
nationally & internationally. Go to
www.aspirionrecords.com for more details.
EURO DATES ANNOUNCED FOR RACHAEL
After massive European radio support of Rachael Warwick and last year's rave reviews of
her "stunning, professional and dynamic live performances" many major festivals
have booked Rachael and her band to perform - some as headline performances and some will
be broadcast live on national TV, including one in Belgium.
These appearances will be backed up with radio/TV/ press interviews and exclusive
performances.
"Anglo Americana", the award winning debut album, recently voted album of the
year at the UK Country Radio Awards, is now on the shelf at retail outlets and initial
reports show strong demand especially from European and US outlets. Stockists include HMV
and Tower and many independent retailers are now ordering from right across Europe. Two
new videos have recently been shot to coincide with single releases in the spring. They
will also be shown on the big screens at festival appearances. For more information and
interview requests go to www.impressiverecords.com

Overcast Howdy ,
Greetings from our end of the world. We just had our official
drawing for this month, and Josh Teigen from Scranton, North Dakota came out on top.
Well be mailing Josh a Kamikaze Cow DVD and an autographed copy of
Honky Tonk Town by Montana historian Gary A. Wilson. Hell also be on the
list for a full years subscription to American Cowboy Magazine, compliments of the
folks at www.americancowboy.com
Weve been pretty busy traveling around here lately and have had a great time with
old pals and meeting new ones. We were in Grassrange, Montana last Sunday afternoon for
the big jam session at the Wrangler. I think every good musician for a couple of hundred
miles was there. What a time that was! Thats a regular event the third Sunday of
every month, starting right after dinner and going til the cows come home.
Its a real slice of Montana culture, so you for sure need to put that on your
calendar. Harold and Marge Matovich are the folks that put that on, and they do a dandy
job. They grill a mean rib steak there, too.
This past month weve had the opportunity to be part of the North Dakota Auctioneers
annual doins, and the Montana Veterinarians get-together as well as several
Cowboy Church deals and Valentine banquets. I even had the opportunity to do a Sunday
afternoon gig for the DUI offenders that are locked up at Warm Springs State Hospital.
Ill tell you what, thats enough to make a man stop drinkin.
Well be stickin a little closer to home for few weeks. The weather turned cold
last weekend, and the cows started calvin
. (its all in the management)
so maybe I ought to make myself a little more useful around home for a while.
Stop by our website and check out our new sound samples if you havent for a while. www.kenovercast.com Our new CD project Montana
In My Soul will be ready for release in a month or so, so stay tuned.
Keep Smilin
.
and dont forget to check yer cinch.

HORIZONS.
For some people the world changes so slowly they hardly notice it. Things happen less
suddenly in their lives, and on a small familiar set, like a stage play.
For others of us, our horizons have grown so far apart, it's hard to get our bearings.
I've been trying to find my way home for such a long time, I've lost track of where it is,
but if I ever do get back to my old neighborhood I'm sure I'll run into a guy I used to
know for whom nothing much has changed.
I wrote this song for all the guys like Jody who are still hangin' out on the same old
corner.
"POOR JODY."
Poor Jody,
standin on the same old corner,
It don't seem like the same old town.
You dreamed of the good life,
where a man could walk alone,
Walked out on a good wife...
Now it's too late, she's gone.
Poor Jody,
leanin on the same old lamp post
Watchin' the buses goin' up town
You and the neighborhood
are feelin rundown.
Poor Jody...
Don't seem like the same old town.
You're the last of the old gang,
the last hanger-on.
The years seem to fly by.
Oh, where have they gone
Poor Jody,
leanin' on the same old lamp post
Watchin' the buses goin' up town
You and the neighborhood
are feelin rundown
Poor Jody...
Don't seem like the same old town...

| Pat James Hi everybody !
Great news confirming the introduction of Pat among the well-established and
up-and-coming country artists: the Roots Country Music Chart has ranked "Some like it
Country" # 48 for the week of February 15. It is the first week for the album and a
new entry to this music chart, just before Randy Travis, listed # 49 !
As some of you may have noticed, Pat's website is updated almost everyday with new radio
stations playing his music. The list is probably not accurate, since a lot of stations are
not reporting to us. Just to give you an idea, out of only 339 submissions e-mailed to
radio stations since the end of January, 139 downloaded Pat's music and 31 requested his
CDs. It is an excellent ratio, which is not surprising considering Pat's uniqueness in
today's country music world. It is not hard to convince radio stations' DJs to play Pat's
music once they've heard it. But having them listening to it remains the main difficulty!
We'd like to thank all of you who keep on requesting Pat' songs to your local radio
stations or to the internet radios. That really helps to spread Pat's music out there
where it belongs.
There is a new CD review just posted on the site and some new links that you can check
out. Also, you can now download any of Pat' songs directly from the website.
We still have some 3,000 radio submissions or so to do, so we better go back to work, to
get him number 1 on the music charts!
Have a great President's Day !

MAGGIE AUSTIN IN THE TOP 5 ON THE CHARTS
Rain on a Tin Roof, Maggie Austin's debut single off of
her upcoming CD on Gulfwind Records, is currently Number 5 on New Music Weekly's Country
Indie Chart!
Maggie describes Rain on a Tin Roof as "a beautifully written bluegrass
flavored song that creeps up on the listener, slowly washing over the soul." This
song is pure Nashville, including songwriter John Ozier, musicians Lonnie Wilson and Troy
Lancaster, and producer Larry Beaird. Robert K. Oermann says that "the mix of
acoustic instruments, lively percussion, and the chorus harmonies is zesty and
refreshing."
Maggie Austin's blend of traditional country themes and contemporary country delivery have
made her an innovative and ground breaking artist. Her music is enjoying worldwide
exposure, with airplay everywhere from the United Kingdom to New Zealand to Canada and the
USA. She has appeared on the cover of Blazing Boots, and has been reviewed on many
websites and magazines, including CountryInterviewsOnline.net, Strictly Country, and
Country Stars Online.
Maggie Austin is currently working with CMA award winning musicians on her debut
full-length CD, due out this year.
Maggie Austin is a sponsor of Cell Phones For Soldiers, a program helping soldiers call
home to their families. She has since received numerous requests to discuss the program.
Maggie will donate 25cents for every download from www.MPeria.com/artists/Maggie_Austin
to the CPFS fund.

Ann-Marita
Ann-Marita "Alive and Kickin'" is currently
at #11 on the Independent World Country chart, up 3 from last week. Ann-Marita says that
"the response from radio and fans worldwide has been great. My first single,
"Face In The Crowd", was mellow and melancholic, and "Alive And
Kickin'" is anything BUT that!" "Alive and Kickin'" can be found on
WHP #58 and on NFS Publicity #100 in Australia.
"Alive And Kickin" has been described as "a 'cant hold me
down" declaration that will stir the blood of 'Hell-Yeah' girls everywhere"!
This song, with its driving rock beat, pumping bass and bluesy harmonica has had listeners
draw comparisons to both classic Rolling Stones and country rocker Wynonna Judd.
Ann-Maritas powerhouse voice delivers this 3-minute anthem of rediscovered
independence with unshakable conviction.
Ann-Marita describes her debut CD as being about "growing up, and having to do it a
little faster than expected. Its about heartbreak, survival and finding your place
in the world
When someone tells me that they were moved by one of my songs,
I
know that Ive hit the mark." Ann-Marita wrote all of the songs for her
self-titled album.
Ann-Marita is about to return to the studio to begin recording her sophomore album,
tentatively titled, "Intuition".
For more information on Ann-Marita, or to book her for an acoustic show in New South Wales
and Victoria (Australia), please contact Laura at wildfirepublicity@comcast.net or
615-825-0019. Photos, her self-titled CD, Alive and Kickin' MP3, and interviews available
to radio and the media by request. We now also have a MEDIA ONLY download page for
