Aaron Tippin(Note from
Marli: My apologies for not getting this news to y'all sooner.)

COUNTRY STAR AARON TIPPIN SPENT THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WITH TROOPS DEPLOYED
OVERSEAS

(Nashville, TN) Country music star Aaron Tippin left for Afghanistan Nov. 18 and
performed for the troops stationed there through Nov. 27. He performed music from his new
album, Now & Then, as well as his well-known hits. This was his second
Thanksgiving tour sponsored by Stars for Stripes and U.S. Army, Europe.
Those are the real working men and women, and if I can repay even an ounce of what
they are doing for me, my family, and my country by taking their mind off of the
day-to-day risks
well, I cant think of a better thing to do with my
time, Tippin said. They have been fighting for the rights we take for granted
every day, and I want to make sure they know were thankful.
Stars for Stripes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality entertainment
to internationally deployed U.S. service members, according to its Web site. The
organization also is a member of America Supports You, a Defense Department program
highlighting ways Americans and the corporate sector are supporting the nations
military.
Tippin launched his career in 1991 with his debut single, Youve Got to Stand
For Something, a single that reached Top 10 status and quickly became an anthem for
Operation Desert Storm. He found that many viewed him as a voice of patriotism, a badge he
wears proudly to this day.
On the heels of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Tippin again rose to the occasion with
Where The Stars And Stripes and the Eagle Fly. He donated the proceeds from
the single, which zoomed to the No. 2 position on the Billboard chart, to the Disaster
Relief Fund of the Nashville Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Country fans went out and bought the record to help other Americans who needed help
at the time, Tippin said. Thats common of what real country fans are
like.
Its the fan enthusiasm and support that has motivated the singer to take an active
role not only through his music, but through performances for the troops.
To date, Tippin has performed for more than 500,000 military personnel either overseas or
at home.

BACKSTAGE FOOTBALL
11-30-2006
The 2006 #1 draft pick, Jay Cutler, will make his first start in an NFL game as the Denver
Broncos quarterback on Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks---but perhaps to calm his
nerves, he chilled out this past weekend at the Gary Allan concert at Denver's Fillmore
venue.
Gary's football loving band just happened to have a football on board the bus so while
backstage, Cutler warmed up for his NFL debut by hurtling a long pass to Allan's steel
player, C.J. Eudeen, who deftly caught the throw.

Kunaki
Digital CD / DVD Manufacturing and Publishing Service This isn't an advertisement... it's a "Head's Up" for
artists.
I found out about Kunaki thanks to singer/songwriter, Russ
McDaniel. Russ has been using the service and told me about it so I could let other
artists know of it's services.
Russ wrote, "I was surprised they do everything on
line. They create a CD with all the artwork, tracks, shrinkwrap, bar code etc. Then they
snail mail a complete CD with everything. They do this all free. Then they set up a
digital store free. They mail hard copy's to customers; 1 or 100 or whatever. The cost at
that point is $1.60 per CD. I don't have to buy them till I sell them, They handle the
credit cards. too! How cool is that?"
Russ summed it up quite nicely. I checked over the site's
information and from the looks of things, I feel many of you may find it useful. Take time
to read over things carefully. As always, the leg work is up to you.. I'm just the
messanger. ;)
How's that for a "not responsible" clause? ;)
Seriously.. check it out. If it's not for you, you've only
taken a moment of your time to look at it. Then again, you may find that it's just what
you've been looking for.. an affordable way to publish and sell your CDs and DVDs!

CHRISTMAS IS A TIME
An audio Christmas essay by Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan

DJ's who would like an mp3, please email us.THE
SUNSET TRAIN.
This story concerns a gift, so I send it to you each
Christmas Season. - JB
He headed for the cashier's counter, hoping that the curtain rods he was carrying were the
ones she wanted, when he saw it for the first time.
Funny! He'd been in this store and up and down these aisles dozens of times, but he had
never noticed those wall pictures before. He wasn't much of an art critic, but he DID know
he'd never seen anything quite like that train picture.
The surface of the picture was textured to look like a genuine oil painting, and somehow
that scene looked more real than life!
The silver steam from the old engine glowing in the sunset, billowing against the
yellow-blue-orange-pink sky.
The brightly colored, but weather worn railroad cars. The red caboose so real you could
almost step right into it. Each piece of gravel along the track, each clump of vegetation
on the lonesome prairie clearly defined and casting a long, late afternoon shadow.
The mountains were a bluish haze against the distant horizon. It was a painting you could
stare at for a long time, finding details previously overlooked.
A bell rang. The store was closing. On impulse he hurried to the Customer Service Desk and
put the picture on "layaway" with five dollars, that should really have gone
toward overdue bills. He didn't know when he'd be able to manage the eleven-ninety-five
balance. He paid for the curtain rods and went home, feeling a little guilty.
She stood back and looked critically at the curtains she'd hung.
He told her that they sure made a big difference in the little apartment. She laughed
that, at least the curtains looked better than the view of the trash cans in the alley.
He held her and said he wished he could provide her with a decent home, with enough
furnishings to go around, and she replied that they weren't doing too badly for newlyweds,
and that she believed in him. He didn't mention the money he'd foolishly spent on a
picture of a train.
Pay day again, and another losing battle with arithmetic. If only a single tree or a patch
of grass could be seen from their window,
it might raise their spirits by interrupting the stark drabness surrounding their dingy,
low rent apartment.
He felt especially sorry for her, being stuck there all day. At least taking the bus to
the factory everyday gave him a change of scene.
These were his thoughts as he paid the cashier and waited for the large picture to be
wrapped.
He centered it carefully on the wall over the big easy chair with the broken spring, and
called her to come in from the kitchenette
and take a look at the "surprise". Wiping her hands on her apron, she glanced
around the room until her eyes stopped at the unexpected explosion of color. It was so
beautiful she almost cried! It was like having a window overlooking a lovely, peaceful
valley locked in eternal sunset. They held hands and stared at the painting until dinner
almost burned.
Years struggled by, and the broken spring chair was replaced by a new living room suite,
complete with payment book. They moved several times in the course of their lives, first
to a couple of larger apartments, then to a house in a suburban development and finally,
anticlimactically, back to another cheap apartment, where they were to spend their autumn
years.
The infirmities of old age often require a tightening of purse strings. They weren't
complaining though. They'd been through rough times before.
Through the years they'd managed to hang on to two treasures: the Sunset Train painting
and a true love for each other. Maybe they weren't so poor after all.
It hit him hard when she passed away. Somehow, he's always imagined he'd be the first to
go. He wasn't prepared for the horrible emptiness. Nobody ever is.
He took the habit of conversing with her, even though she was gone. He'd stare at the
painting and talk over old times.
Sometimes he'd sit for hours in front of the television, but his eyes would wander back to
the Sunset Train, their most prized possession. He'd imagine that they were together in
that valley, or riding on the train itself.
The neighbors, aware of his condition since her death, occasionally dropped in to check on
him. Conversations always gravitated to the unusual picture.
Several days had passed before anyone noticed the junk mail and newspapers accumulated
outside his front door. Fearing the old man had died, and after receiving no answer to
their knocking and calling, the neighbors set their shoulders to the door and the old wood
gave way.
Finding no one in the apartment, all clothes intact in the closets, and the television
left on, the neighbors notified the police of the old man's disappearance. They arrived
shortly after.
While the premises were being inspected, an officer casually commented to a neighbor,
"Unusual painting in there! So realistic, I mean."
"Yeah," replied the other, "everybody remarks about that train picture.
It's real pretty."
"No," said the policeman, "I'm talkin' about that big picture of the valley
and the sunset, and all that. There's a railroad track runnin' through it, I guess, but no
train. Yep, I'm sure there was no train in that picture."
And he was right. The train was gone.

CountryStars.com Reviews Erin Hay
Erin Hay - The Collection
By: George Peden, CSO Staff Journalist
Her
catch-phrase is a revealing truth. For talented Erin Hay "When its too country
for everyone else, its just right for me" is more about attitude than a
boastful declaration. And just right it is, as her latest release The Collection (Westwood
Int'l. Records) proves.
Drawing popular cuts from three previous albums and five tracks from her upcoming Blue
Country Song album, this Southern California-raised and now Nashville-based singer and
songwriter delivers strongly across an album of toe-tappers, weepers and traditional
country fare. Its easily understood, given the talent here, how shes been one
of the Internets most downloaded on country music sites.
Now with 23 of her best, Hay with long-time pal and musical mentor Lonnie Ratliff has
something here that spans her career chase that started with her Nashville arrival in
91. Thats not to say Erin Hay hasnt already earned fan and industry
interest. She has. Shes toured Europe and Australia; and shes well regarded on
the American Indie circuit. But that final breakthrough, that final industry embrace, has
eluded her. Maybe thats about to change. She has the voice, she has the style and
with this album, providing it snags the needed interest, she could have the fame.
Shes done the hard yards, shes worn the shoe leather, and shes certainly
a worthy waiter in the wings. Her best of may just be the blowtorch to create the needed
smoke and fire.
The album kicks to life with "Id Be In Memphis". Spirited and engaging,
piano, steel and guitar lead the charge on a track that mines misery, but in the most
musical of ways. Strength and determinism show up on the Hay and Ratliff-penned
"Leaning On A Rock That Never Rolls", while the stain and shadow of war and its
aftermath echo on "Midnight At The Old Soldiers Home". Memory prodders
come offered with the Tom.T.Hall classic "Harper Valley PTA" and John
Denvers "Take Me Home Country Roads" is a welcomed inclusion.
With a confident vocal style, Hay remains consistent, and consistently good, when she
tackles heart tugs like "Ten Thousand Teardrops Ago", the Bill Jackson-penned
"The Tree" and the classic "Dont Worry Bout Me", a Marty Robbins
memory.
And thats one of her defining strengths. Hay can sing just about anything. Whether
shes cutting loose with the steel-driven ode to the Opry, The Circle", or
the Dolly Parton cut, "False Eyelashes", or the Leroy Van Dyke charter,
"Walk On By", or the lamenting truth of "Your Good Girls Gonna Go
Bad" Hay brings feel, voice and melody to all she tackles.
Erin Hay: remember the name. Watch and wait. Meanwhile, become acquainted. The Collection
is a solid introduction to a discovery waiting to happen.
