MKOC News
Jan 15, 2006 |
| Hi All, It seems that every time I send out a newsletter, I'm apologizing
for not sending it weekly as I always did before. Welp.. here I go again. As I alerted you
when I sent out a Christmas and New Years message, there have been many factors as to why
I haven't been able to send out news for the last 2 months. The #1 factor was that Ma had
went to the ER on Nov. 11th due to congestive heart failure. She was resuscitated twice in
the E-squad and once again in the ER. She's home now and hangin' in there, but still not
doing as well as I'd hoped. She's seeing a new doctor and may have to have a pacemaker put
in. At the age of 80, any type of invasive surgery is not good, but they tell us that it's
a lot easier now and they're only going to do this ONLY if absolutely needed, which it's
looking that it may be just that. Sadly, Ma isn't up to traveling at all anymore which
means no more trips to Nashville for her... and this is sad as she and my Aunt Louise just
loved the special treatment they got from so many of you when we'd be in town. If all goes
well, I hope to be back in Nashville in either spring or summer but it will depend on
circumstances here, of course. Now that I've got you up to date on my personal news, I
hope to do better at getting the music news out to y'all. I can't make promises to be here
all the time, but I DO promise to try my best... and thanks for hangin' in there with me!
Be prepared... there's 3 pages of news and a page filled
with timely on sale deals... and I'm not done yet! Guess there's enough here to hold y'all
for awhile. Odds are, there'll be more news coming in a day or two cuz I just can't do it
all tonight. Man! Don't ya feel sorry for me??? LOL.. yeah.. right! ;)

Joe Tinoco (Reported Dec. 19, '05) Saundra, Joe Tinoco's favorite Aunt and Fan Club
President (IFCO) for many years passed away during the holidays. Yes ... A wonderful
person has past away at her home in her sleep this weekend, and she will truly be missed
by so many of her loved ones and friends. She is in a resting place now and her pain is
subsided.
Saundra did so much for many in her life time. She was there when many needed her with her
happy smile and her many talents.
She was born & grew up in New Jersey, her father an Episcopalian Priest and her Mother
both past away a few years back and she truly missed them ...
She left behind her son Charles Heilman, Grandson CJ and her brother Bill Heilman and
Sisters Cindy Clark and Hope Tinoco. She left her many loved nieces Mary Wallace and

and Her best friend ... (sister - In- law) Marion Heilman of New Jersey. . Her other loved
friends Kathy and Cam and Don ( her Florida long time neighbors) ... She will be missed
so.
Saundra's home was open to all and she took in those who need help many times. She spent
her last years making people happy even though she herself was dealing with so many health
problems.
She loved to shop and loved to go to the beach and swim the ocean. She love preparing
party's for the little ones and her friends. She was happily anticipating meeting her new
niece Talya Tinoco New years day. We know she has met her by now looking down from Heaven.
Saundra was a Happy Camper when her pain was eased up. Her happiness radiated out to
others.
She took time (traveling) for a Burned Victim in hopes of making his healing easier. She
made a beautiful Decorated Cowboy hat and helped with a benefit while not well herself.
Saundra's last days were of Loving Donnie, and Donnie spent his time Loving and caring for
her

TAKING ON MYSPACE AND iTUNES , INDIE911.com DETOURS FROM THE MAINSTREAM
HOLLYWOOD, CA December 10, 2005 - With a small staff working from office and
recording studio in the heart of Hollywoods sunset strip, indie911 hardly seems to
be in the same league as online giants like Apples iTunes or Rupert Murdochs
My Space. At least at first click: A closer look reveals that the company actually
combines some of the best features of each with the potential for exponential results in
order to serve both artists and audiences in todays ever-changing entertainment
industry.
By combining an online social network with a filtered emerging artist network, indie911
takes the online music and film experience to a new level. Here music artists and digital
filmmakers interact directly with their audiences, who in turn help promote and digitally
distribute the music and video they listen to the most.
Since its initial launch as a streaming music network in March 2004, indie911 has quickly
grown into one of the most trusted sources for independent music, perhaps due to the
companys loyal user base. Driven almost entirely by word of mouth, indie911.com now
receives over one million monthly visitors.
Most of the media content that reaches the eyes and ears of mass audiences are
delivered by large corporations whose very structure often dictates its content,
Indie911 CEO Justin Goldberg says, Indie911 caters to the creativity that thrives
outside of the mainstream; the best artists and audiences usually do.
While the mainstream music industry in particular struggles with unprecedented downsizing
and corporate consolidation, the independent sector is thriving, giving indie911 a clear
opportunity in todays online media marketplace. Goldberg continues:
indie911s ultimate mission is to break outdated distribution molds. We supply online
audiences with great new music and film to discover while giving artists an integrated
platform to thrive independently in todays new online entertainment economy.
Indie911 has agreements with leading entertainment organizations including Songcatalog,
Mediaguide, iMesh, The Canadian Consulate, MINC, The French Music Office, GroupieTunes,
Business Wire, ASCAP, and the DCIA.

Bring Back Garth PetitionI
don't know if you have heard about us yet but we are contacting all of the Country Music
fans sites we can find to see if you're interested in helping us Bring Back Garth.
We have started an online petition for Garth's fans to sign, leave a brief message, and
basically show Garth how much he is missed. Our Goal is 1 Million signatures!
We do respect his decision to spend time with his family and would never want to interfere
with that. We have created this site in the hope of assembling a group of Garths
fans...large enough to make an impression on the man, himself. We would like to show Garth
that his fans are still dedicated to the songs, the man, and the music that still resides
in his heart, waiting to burst forth.
How can you help? First of all by logging on to www.bringbackgarth.com
Sign the petition and then tell every Garth fan you know. If you would consider giving us
a link from your page, that would also be a very big help.
Thank you very much for your time....let's Bring Back Garth!!!!!!

Drew Davis Band
DREW DAVIS BAND MAKES FRIENDS IN MID-WEST
(Nashville, TN) The Drew Davis Band (DDB) is looking forward to a calm Christmas
holiday after wrapping-up a summer and fall concert tour consisting of over 60 dates.
Included in their tour was a radio show for KSID at a local golf course in Sidney,
Nebraska where the DDB got up-close and personal with the fans.
"What has impressed me the most about the guys in the Drew Davis Band is their
willingness to do whatever it takes to please their audience and fans. They remember
people by their first names and genuinely make an effort to get to know everyone they
meet, says General Manager for KSID Suzy Ernest. Not only are they all amazing
musicians/artists/singers, each in their own right, but when they come together as
"The DDB" they completely knock the socks off everyone who has privilege to
watch and listen to them in concert! The entire county has become huge fans of the DDB,
continuing to request their music on our country station!"
And Suzy should know, because pictured with the guys are her three children--proving that
a DDB show is fun for all ages! For more information on the DDB, or to see when there is a
performance scheduled in your area, please visit www.drewdavisband.com

SOLID Nashville's 2005 Education Panel Re-Cap
November 30, 2005
SOLID NASHVILLES 2005 EDUCATION PANEL BRINGS INDUSTRY ELITE TO NASHVILLE
Event Attracts over 1,200 - Featuring Music Legends Alan Parsons, Eddie Kramer, and Tony
Brown
(Nashville, Tenn.) SOLID (Society of Leaders in Development) Nashvilles 2005
Education Panel, entitled Making Masterpieces: The Stories Behind Some of Musics
Greatest Albums, was held on Monday, October 24, 2005 on the campus of Belmont
Universitys Massey Performing Arts Center. A standing-room only crowd was on-hand
for over two hours to listen to the wisdom and experience of three of the music
industrys most elite: Alan Parsons, Eddie Kramer, and Tony Brown. The panel was
moderated by Nashville USA Today Correspondent Brian Mansfield.
The discussion throughout the night focused on what went into the making of some of the
biggest albums in music history, including Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon (Alan
Parsons engineer); Jimi Hendrixs Electric Ladyland (Eddie Kramer
engineer); and Steve Earles Guitar Town (Tony Brown producer). A poignant
video montage began the evening, highlighting the sounds and images of the collective work
of the three. As the panelists took the stage following the montage, they were immediately
greeted with a lengthy standing ovation.
Andrew Stokes, President of SOLID Nashville, was proud of what the event meant to SOLID.
"This was a great evening for SOLID. It took a tremendous amount of time and
resources to bring these people together, and the fact that we were able to do it
successfully is truly a testament to the talent and dedication of the members that make up
this organization. I am very proud that we were able to share this event with the
Nashville music community."
SOLID, founded in 1997, is a non-profit organization comprised of developing music
business professionals dedicated to improving the future success of our industry. Members
come from all facets of the music business community, therefore contributing to the
diversity, productivity and integrity of the group. SOLID provides individuals the
opportunity to take on responsibilities and further enhance leadership skills by helping
others... teaching others... leading others. For additional information on SOLID, visit www.solidnashville.com

A Strange Little Love Song
Our upcoming January single is a strange little love song.
It sounds oddly like the 1930's dance band era, and it's all in fun.
"Molasses in the Moonlight" Coming soon on Stardust Compilation #59!
Listen to a preview: http://www.kokosuniverse.com/avi/jm/wma/molasses.htm
We are indebted to Randall Cousins and Manon's Dream for the beautiful backup vocals.

UNCLE JACKS PEP TALKS FOR SONGWRITERS AND ARTISTS.
Misty and I have four guidelines
for writing songs, singing, recording, and doing shows:
1. Make them laugh.
2. Make them cry.
3. Make them think.
4. Make them feel.
If we accomplish any one of these were not doing badly. If we can combine two or
more of them, were doing our job.
Just evoking any kind of emotion is not enough unless youre a professional wrestler.
Anger is an emotion, but we try not to bring it out in a live audience for health reasons.
I admire and study comedians. I think the difference between a comic and a comedian is
this: The comic makes us laugh. The comedian makes us laugh, cry, and maybe think.
The true comedian has depth, not just the shallow gag lines you see so often on late night
TV. Jackie Gleason, Robin Williams, and Lou Costello fall into the comedian
category... Comedy combined with pathos.
The same applies to actors. You can give the same lines to different actors and certain
ones will make you believe it.
In my case at least, I have to feel things myself before I can project them to others.
Audiences can sense insincerity. I have to learn and analyze the material until its
real to me. Get into the story.
I like story songs, and write them when I can. Just describing a person or feeling is not
a story. Something has to happen to make it a story... Some action resulting in a life
change or lesson... An epiphany.
I think the songwriter ought to feel it while creating it. To me its like a
screenplay, and Im in it.
Rhyming dictionaries and clever word play will get us by, but they seldom create a
classic.
Writing, singing, and performing are all creative efforts. Dont settle for polite
applause. Go for a standing ovation every time.
Leave them thinking about it after the last note fades away.
Jack Blanchard © 2005.

IMPORTANT JAMBOREE NEWS !!
In order to make the event come off as smooth as possible I have asked Gary
Bradshaw to be in charge of the schedule. His thoughts about it are below.
I also asked Rhonnie Scheuerman to be in charge of the Gospel Stage & program. I
appreciate very much their help & support !
Buster
Howdy Folks
In an attempt to insure the Jamboree By The Lake 2006 hosted by Col. Buster
Doss (Stardust Records) the 5th, 6th & 7th of May runs efficiently with a minimum
amount of delays and affords everyone wanting to perform at this Great Event the
opportunity do so. Therefore we need to set some guidelines for us all to follow As most
everyone knows by now, we have made several changes from last year. First a different
location has been chosen which will better serve our needs. A close yo a100-acre City Park
located in Winchester, Tennessee on a 34 mile long beautiful Tims Ford Lake. With the work
of Buster Doss and his negotiations with the City of Winchester and many local businesses,
this prime location was secured for your next Jamboree. We need to ask those of you
planning to be there for your cooperation in several areas of this event to insure its
success.
This rime we will run a schedule prior to the event, which will be posted on the Internet
as it fills up. You will know in advance, before you arrive what Stage and the time you
will be performing on that stage. We will do our best to adhere to the schedule at all
times. As we do know that certain circumstances can evolve that may force us to make a few
changes, we ask for your cooperation in any of these matters. As it is impossible to know
at this time how many Bands and Artists will be there, it will take several attempts at
working out this schedule but once the final schedule has been posted, we will follow it
as closely as humanly possible.
We will ask each of you to be on the grounds and ready to perform one (1) hour prior to
your scheduled Stage time. In the case of a NO Show or a Late Show and you do arrive at a
different time; we will make every attempt to re-schedule you at our convenience. If you
have not arrived one (1) hour prior to your Scheduled Showtime, the next Performer will be
moved
ahead and fill that spot.
We will need to know if you are performing with Tracks, Your Band, or another Band. Your
participation in this event will automatically allow us permission to film you and use the
film in any way the event so deems. (If you do not agree to being filmed during any
portion of this event, you will need to tell us in Writing prior to attending the event.

Heart Promotions) by email gbradshaw3@cox.net

Thank you for your cooperation in all these matters. Lets go have some great fun, listen
to some great Music and make many new friends. See you all at the Jamboree By The Lake.

Check out this recent interview from Billy for a German website. You can read it either in
English or in German. Here are the links:
German version: http://www.countryhome.de/interviews/interview_deu_2005/billy_yates_2005.htm
English version: http://www.countryhome.de/interviews/interview_eng_2005/billy_yates_2005.htm
Also you can read a review of Billy's CD "Harmony man". It's from an Italian
Country-website and as far as I have seen it it's unfortunately just in Italian language.
I might be wrong with that...so please check it out: www.planetcountry.it
http://www.planetcountry.it/site/viewRecensioni.asp?id_recensione=319
But since we also have some friends on this list from Italy who might be interested and
able to read it ;-)
I want remind you that our contest is going strong. We have a lot of new fan club sign
ups...so keep telling people about it and earn yourself points for the big prize.
Take care,
