| Rhonda Vincent December 12, 2005
Vincent Scores 2nd Grammy Nomination
'Ragin' Live' "Best Bluegrass Album Category"
Nashville, TN - Rhonda Vincent - The IBMA's
unprecedented SIX-time "Female Vocalist of the Year", received the ultimate
acknowledgement a musician can receive; one bestowed by her peers within the music
community; as she received a 2006 Grammy Nomination for her live project, "Ragin'
Live" (Rounder Records) which she recorded with her band The Rage at the historic
Sheldon Theater in St. Louis, MO., her home state.
Vincent's management received the call from Rounder Records president, John Virant. The
news was quickly relayed to Vincent, who was retuning from a television filming for NBC
TV. Vincent was in Richmond, VA., taping the "Capitol One Holiday Celebration on
Ice." The NBC television special is scheduled to air nationally on Christmas Day.
"As soon as my manager told me "Ragin' Live" was up for a Grammy, I checked
our tour schedule to see where we'd be that evening. Being on the road over 300 days in
2004, when I received my first Grammy nomination for "One Step Ahead", I was
unable to attend the ceremonies. It's destiny this year! I'll be in California on Grammy
night and plan to be sitting in the audience," exuded a thrilled Vincent. "I've
never been so excited about anything in my life. It will take weeks for this to register
completely," continued Vincent. "This years schedule couldn't be better. I'm
actually going to be there at the Grammy's."
"Ragin' Live" has brought acclaim to the Vincent camp from all directions this
year. At the time of it's release, critics nationwide directed their readers and viewers
towards a purchase of "Ragin' Live." People Magazine gave "Ragin'
Live" a 3.5 Star rating out of a possible 4 stars stating "Vincent and her band
are dazzling from start to finish." CNN's Show Biz Tonight host, Mark Dagostino,
chose "Ragin' Live" in their "Picks & Pans" segment calling
"Ragin' Live" 'phenomenal,' and further recommending the project "for those
looking to expand their tastes in music." The Philadelphia Inquirer called Ragin'
Live "An excellent showcase for Vincent's talents as singer, songwriter and
multi-instrumentalist," while AP states "It (Ragin' Live) showcases her
(Vincent's) strong, supple voice on both driving bluegrass tunes and touching
ballads."
Vincent's reputation of high energy, and a "what you see is what you get"
attitude, has brought a completely new audience to the bluegrass genre, increasing the
number of fans around the globe. At a time when people are looking for authenticity in
their music, Vincent put herself and her band on the line by releasing a live DVD that
displays exactly what they are......and it has more than worked for the woman the Wall
Street Journal dubbed "The Queen of Bluegrass." Vincent will be performing in
Hanford, CA just two days after the Grammy's and then will head out to sea as she hosts
her first annual bluegrass cruise.

Pat James News Dec. 28, '05
Here is some news that might not be new if you check the date of the
reviews, but since we've received the English translation only two days ago, it is news !
Kountry Korral Magazine is the oldest and most famous printed magazine about country music
in Sweden (It was created in 1968 !). It is printed, that's why you won't find any link to
it.
The editor decided to publish the reviews of both CDs in the same issue, so here they are
:
Kountry Korral Magazine - July 2005 - By Lars Kjellberg
"Some Like it Country"
"Pat James works in Arizona where he plays at a club in Cave Creek several times a
week. He also writes songs. Pat is apparently a young man of the old school that really is
country with a capital C. Im sure he sings the classics too at the club, but on this
record he sings mainly his own songs and they are of a very high class. A little swing, a
little western, a touch of classic country and honky tonk, of course.
Above all he sings with the kind of feeling that makes you stop and listen.
The best songs on this his first record from 2001 are possibly "When I see her
again", "Are those real tears" and "Let me live long enough", but
every one of the 14 tracks are very good. The musicians are, to me, unknown local
musicians, but certainly dont seem to fall behind the Nashville elite. A lot of
fiddle, steel and piano guarantee a strict country sound."
Kountry Korral Magazine - July 2005 - By Christer Andersson
"It's My Life"
"The follow-up to Pats excellent first record is in fact with "It's my
life', a record that falls under the same genre as its predecessor, i.e. story-like texts
with ballads, excellent shuffles and western swing.
He has only written a few of the songs on the new record, but the opening is his own, i.e.
the outstanding "She's kind". He furthermore presents his own reflections in
"What in the world". Then follows several songs by Marty Robbins, such as
"Camelia" and "Begging to you", and then swing in "I'm gonna be a
cowboy".
Arizona's country boy Pat James and his country and western music are well worth
discovering. Both of the records are superior, but I give the first one an extra
plus."
This time, real new news : Pat' CDs are now available for digital downloads. 15
companies have been delivered so far and more are coming. Here they are : Apple ITunes -
MusicNet (AOL, Yahoo, Tower, Virgin) - LiquidDigitalMedia (Wal-Mart) - Sony Connect -
QTRNote - MusicNow - Next Radio Solutions - Tradebit - MSN Music - PassAlong - Rhapsody -
NetMusic - Puretracks - AudioLunchbox - BuyMusic.
Because it takes to these companies from 2 weeks to 3 months to get the CDs up, you might
not find them everywhere yet. Patience !!
As probably some of you have noticed, our website has been experiencing big
problems for quite a while now. Good news, it's going to be up and running again within
the next few days. Check it out ! The new one won't be as nice as the actual one, but at
least, everything should be working fine !
For those who just joined us, read the Pat James' review from Marlene Slater at http://www.mkoc.com/
More News Soon !
Have a great week !

Bradi Valentine
Get Ready For Valentine's Day:
BRANDI VALENTINE
Goes 'Deeper' To Capture The Hearts
Of Country Music Fans Everywhere
* * *
"She Got A Way With Men (She Got Away With Mine)," First Single From
Singers Debut,
Was Shipped To Country And Pop Radio On October 17
* * *
Helmed By Veteran Genre Producer Michael Wayne Edging,
'Deeper'Featuring A Mix Of Valentines Country Roots And R&B Influences--
Marks Second Release For Alive Records, A Label Specializing In Alternative Internet
Marketing
Looking for a little extra soul and substance in your country music? Then you best prepare
your hearts, because Valentines Day is coming early this yearmore
specifically, in January, when Deeper, the debut album by singer Brandi Valentine
(www.brandivalentine.com), is released.
By then, its a good bet that the albums clever and irresistible first single
She Got A Way With Men (She Got Away With Mine), will be all over country and
pop radio. Shipped to numerous stations around the country on October 17, the track is
currently building steam.
Produced by veteran country producer Michael Wayne Edging, Deeper beautifully blends
Valentines pop-country roots with her longtime love of classic rock and soul. The
collection is a twist of Motown meets Country where funky horns and grooves find a
comfortable home next to steel guitar and fiddle. The album features songs co-written by
Edging, his longtime partner Brian OShea and Edgings mother Betty Edging,
along with a beautiful cover arrangement of Billie Hollidays Them There
Eyes.
Deeper is the second release by Edgings Alive Records, which will promote its
artists via both mainstream channels and through aggressive alternative internet
marketing. The companys first album was Labor Pains by traditional country singer
Michael Lee Austin, which was released on November 7, 2005.
While the titles of recordings are often based on the name of a key album track or a good
marketing hook, Valentine and Edging chose Deeper based on her desire to establish herself
as a country singer unafraid to draw on other passions, tap into some heartier rhythms and
sing her heart out, outside the box every chance she gets.
Growing up in small towns in my native Washington State and Missouri, I listened to
a lot of country music but there was so much more that excited me just as much, says
Valentine, who was born in Kennewick, Washington and now lives in Northern California and
Las Vegas.
While Valentines earliest musical memory finds her at age 5, getting a microphone
from her mom at Christmas and singing along to holiday music on the radio, she also
remembers rummaging through her moms closet to dig out all sorts of old LPs. A short
list of influences that helped define her later development as an artist includes country
greats Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, The Judds, Reba McEntire, Lynn Anderson and Kenny Rogers
(I wore out The Gambler, she laughs), along with pop stars Pat
Benatar, Dr. Hook, The Eagles and Amy Grant.
Valentine sang in a lot of church and school choirs, but recalls her first public solo
number being Fool Such As I (recorded by many artists, including Elvis) at her
sixth grade talent show.
When Id listen to most country songs, Id love them because theyd
make me feel happy or sad, but sometimes I felt like they werent going quite deep
enough, she adds. Thats where the songs we worked on come in, tunes that
combine all the different styles I loved since I was a little girl. I love classical, so
there are strings. I love classic R&B, so there are grooves and brass that touch on
that. And Blue Train is a fun, Atlanta styled blues number. Its a little
bit of everything, but in the end, its who I am. The same way all of these styles
Im drawing from connected with me, I believe they will connect with listeners who
hear the album.
Valentines fortuitous meeting with her future musical soul mate Edging came about
through a fascinating series of events that bring to mind the phrase, only in the
music industry. In 2000, when she was living in Crescent City, California (near the
Oregon border), a promoter came to town and held a battle of the bands contest; first
prize was an opening slot for country singer Mindy McCready at the local fairgrounds. She
hadnt planned on entering the contest, but happened by the bar and sang to some
tracksand won!
Her performance before McCreadys show caught the ear of her road manager (who heard
Valentine sing via cell phone), who asked for a demo. The concert promoter Jim Vining also
invited her to come to Vegas, where she started doing various gigs. One night when she was
singing at the Idle Spurs Tavern, Bobby Howardwho had been in the legendary group
The Coasters, for whom Edging played sax at one timeheard her and told her that
Edging was looking for a female demo singer. Valentine and Edging hit it off immediately,
and it was clear from the start that their future collaborations would involve much more
than recording demos. In fact, Edging originally decided to launch Alive Records for the
very purpose of releasing Brandis music to the world.
The minute he heard me, he asked, what do you want to do? Make an album? she
recalls. It was that obvious that something big was going to happen with us. I
started recording songs for him, put Brandi Valentine & Company together for business
purposes, and we got rolling. Mike instinctively knew what kind of music I liked and he
loved all the same things I grew up with. Its almost like meeting him was an answer
from God and his songs were meant for me to record all along.
Edging says of his protégée, Brandi is the most naturally talented female singer I
have ever met. Its like an old soul in a young body because she has a depth of
musical styles she brings to the Country format. I like to call it Sade meets country.
Its a sultry tone and a dynamic presentation with special attention to lyrical
detailBrandi has it all and gives it all onstage or in the studio at every
performance.
While Valentine is only at the beginning of what will no doubt be an inspiring career in
country music, she sees the release of Deeper as a powerful dream come true. Making
my own album was my only goal when I was growing up, she says, and I am so
happy to now be able to get out there and connect emotionally with people the way my
favorite singers connected with me. Most people wont even try going after a dream,
so I feel a great sense of satisfaction that things are coming together this way. I knew I
wanted to do this from the time I was a little girl. I could talk to you and tell you how
I feel about something, but I couldnt communicate as well as I do when Im
singing. The feelings I put out with music are far more powerful than anything I could
say.

Rustie Blue
Rustie Blue
is a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) with her song "Honky
Tonkin' Diva" from her album Chip Chip. "Honky Tonkin' Diva" was one of the
songs selected from 15,000 entrees to move to the second round! The Grand Prize Winner and
the winners in each category will be announced in March 2006.
Rustie Blue explains her inspiration for "Honky Tonkin' Diva": "I had been
hearing the term "Diva" alot! When I think of the word Diva, I think of a
beautiful, strong, successful woman. I thought why not put a Diva in a honky tonk setting?
I mean, you are always seeing gals in honky tonks that dress all up, put on their boots or
"dancing shoes" and go out honky tonkin! The song is about a beautiful, strong
woman that loves the honky tonks, loves to dance, and is a "heartbreaker." As
the songs says, "Don't let her anywhere near your heart, she'll only make you blue,
cause she likes the night life a little too much, and she'll never fall for you."
Rustie Blue says that the song "only took about 20 minutes to write. I was cooking
spaghetti, and I kept getting ideas for the song. I was so pre-occupied with writing, that
I forgot about what I was doing; To make a long story short, I ended up with burned
spaghetti, but I had a great song!"
MP3s of the "Honky Tonkin' Diva" or Rustie's current single "Cloud of
Dust", a copy of the Chip Chip album, interviews, and print quality photos available

Lancaster, and producer Larry Beaird. Dawn Turner from Lonestar Country Radio says

the USA. She has appeared on the cover of Blazing Boots, and has been reviewed on many
websites and magazines, including CountryInterviewsOnline.net, Strictly Country, Rikk's
Reviews, and Country Stars Online.

full-length CD, due out this year.

Skyla Spencer
The
Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association held a rodeo where celebrities teamed up with
professional riders to raise money for NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped
Association, Inc.). The rodeo was held near Gaylord Opry Hotel in Nashville, TN, on Nov.
12th. Skyla Spencer took part in the event shooting two 45 pistols at balloons while
riding a horse named Luke. She rode in two different courses shooting all ten balloons in
one, and missing only one balloon in the other course. Skyla officially was inducted into
the rodeo and will be participating in celebrity competitions in the future. Skyla quotes,
"It was a great time, and I am hooked on the rodeo now."
When asked how she describes her music, Skyla replies My music is fun, energetic,
& up-lifting. I love a sense of humor, and that shows through on some of my songs. I
also enjoy writing ballads. Some of the songs on this album are from real life
experiences, but its through these experiences, either good or bad, that I have
become stronger. My first album is dedicated to the people I have lost in my life...
