Hi All, I've been pretty busy this week revamping the MKOC Store. I hope you'll all take some time out to visit and see all the new things that have been added, and the pages cleaned up.. there were getting to be far too many banners for my taste. Sections of the store consist of Music, Books (for artists and fans), Web Host Servers, Movies and Videos, Software, Electronics, etc. If you think there is something missing that you'd like to have added, please feel free to let me know about it. Remember, this is a "free" site... free to y'all that is, not to me.. so I have to depend on the store to help me keep MKOC alive and I can't do that without you.

Each week DJs and media people who receive the Hotdisc send back their reaction sheets where they are given the chance to rate every song from 10pts to zero. JACK BLANCHARD & MISTY MORGAN ANTHOLOGY IN THE WORKS.
Australian label Omni Record Corporation is putting together a 29 track Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan CD for sale in stores. The album "Life and Death (and Almost Everything Else)" will be a recorded history of Jack and Misty's work from 1967 through 1973.
The package insert will include a cover book with excellent graphics, photographs, and bio material,
as well as a few of Jack's stories. The CD release is expected this summer.
A future album is also planned covering their later works.
Executive producer David Thrussell believes that the many fans of their unique sound and lyrics, would like to purchase Jack and Misty music locally, rather than just over the internet.
Also planned is a Henson Cargill collection.

This is the only instance in which I wrote a song
and later continued the story with another song...
a sequel
The first one concerning this couple was

They were caught in a familiar life trap.

In the second song they are "breaking out"
as painful as the process is.
They aren't angry at each other...
just tired and disappointed.
I think sad songs can help troubled people
by showing them they aren't alone.
We hope the man and woman in these songs
find their way to better times.

OUR BIG LIFE CHANGE.
Misty and I had a steady job with our band in a high class Coral Gables supper club, playing light jazz dance music, and occasionally slipping in one of our own songs. We had made a couple of records that got local airplay, but were getting nowhere with amazing velocity.
Dick Gillespie was a regular customer we talked with a lot. He was witty, in the Robin Williams style,
and owned a local country station. He had won an Emmy for producing the Colgate Comedy Hour on TV.
An intelligent guy.
I asked him one night why we weren't getting anywhere. We were good musicians, I said, we sang well, looked okay, and made nice records.Why didn't he see that, and help us?
His answer hurt our feelings and saved our life.
He said: You have nothing to sell. Nobody is interested in the things you mentioned. People won't walk across the street to see a good-looking musician, but they'll stop for an auto accident.
More importantly, he said: Go home and develop an unusual style, costume yourselves to attract attention, change your name if necessary. Try singing different ways until the style is pronounced. Style is more important than good singing. Good singers back up artists with style. Change your attitude. Go for stage presence. Be whoever you want to be, but be unique.
Then he added:
But, you can't do this here in the town where they know you. They won't accept it. Go to a new place and walk in the door in your new way, no matter how self-conscious you feel, and they will think you were born that way.
Misty changed her name from Mary Blanchard, we dressed pretty wild, worked up a lot of new material and attitude, went to Key West and tried it out. We thought we'd be laughed at, but they not only accepted us, they packed the place to see and hear us. We had a recording contract within two weeks,
and a Billboard Pick within a couple of months.
We found out that the roles we were playing were more real than grinding out dinner music
in a suit and gown.
Now we can't think of ourselves the old way. We've been who we are now over half our lives.
It's us.
Dick Gillespie gave us the best advice we ever got, so we pass it on.
It works.
