Billy Gilman Gets All Decked Out!
NASHVILLE, Tennessee--Billy Gilman is in Nashville today and tomorrow participating in
various media activities in support of his new album release EVERYTHING AND MORE (released
on May 3, 2005 under the Image Entertainment imprint). He took a breather from the hectic
schedule to do something he really doesnt much care forSHOP!
Preparing for next weeks big night in Country Music (the Academy of Country Music
Awards), Billy spent the afternoon at Nashvilles Flavour perusing through the racks.
Within 15 short minutes, he found exactly what he wanted. Im not really into
shopping and Im very picky, so I wasnt looking forward to what I consider to
be a grueling task. But everything just jumped out at me! Phew! Thats the way to
shop, says Billy. Viewers and fans can expect to see Billy decked out in a Diamonds
Flesh For Fantasy Shirt, slacks by Mens Fuente and a chocolate tonal stripe jacket. The
jacket was custom painted on site at the exquisite specialty shop (with Billy as male
model) by Nashville artist, Rachel Kice. Now, that was a fun shopping experience! I
put the jacket on and Rachel just painted away, adds Billy.
Billy appears on Fox-17 in the Mornings (Nashville) tomorrow morning and will co-host
GAC's "Country Request Live" with Susanne Alexander. The show will air May 12
(check GACTV.com for listings).
To kick off the ACM week activities next week, Billy will lend a hand at the Academy of
Country Music, Home Depot, Kaboom Project before he walks the red carpet the evening of
Tuesday, May 17.

ZONA JONES PERFORMS TWO HEARTS ON FOXS THE SIMPLE LIFE SEASON
FINALE THURSDAY, MAY 12TH!
(Nashville, TN) -- Zona Jones current single Two Hearts was airing on
95.5 The Wolf in Nashville, when the wedding couple featured in this
seasons The Simple Life heard the song and requested it to be played as their first
dance. Since Paris and Nicole were aiding in the preparations for the wedding, they turned
directly to the source for an intimate performance.
Zona Jones was in Nashville taking a brief time-off to visit radio stations during the
annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville when the phone rang. I was thrilled to get
that phone call, says Zona Jones. To know that a song that you have recorded
touched someones life, is what country music is all about. So I gladly changed my
schedule to appear and perform at this couple's wedding. And to top it off, Paris and
Nicole had a hand in it.
Thats Hot! says Paris Hilton about Zona being able to perform at the
couple's wedding.
You dont want to miss The Simple Life SEASON FINALE Thursday, May 12th! Tune in at 9

Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan
From our scrapbook...
Whatever happened to Misty's old top hat?

THREE LITTLE COUNTRY MUSIC STORIES.
"A STUPID HUMAN TRICK."
When I was trying to figure how this voice of mine,
and the way I write songs would fit into the music business,
Roger Miller was a great help to me.
His voice and style of writing were in the same category as mine:..
No category.
My first few country songs had a strong Miller influence.
Most people didn't hear it, but I did.
I was and am a Roger Miller fan.
I don't know why, but "Engine #9" is my favorite.
It doesn't have the depth of "Husbands and Wives",
but it is a minimalist gem.
Simple is good.
Every word, every phrase in his songs adds something to the whole.
No fill ins. That's what I've always tried for in my work.
Any word that doesn't add something, erase it.
I learned a lot from him.
Misty and I were doing a session at Columbia Studio B.
Roger's session in studio A was already going on.
We took a few minutes and watched through the window in the door.
I remember hearing him say over the microphone,
"Let's go, folks. We're losin' light".
Right in the middle of our session Roger walked in,
carrying a brief case, and stood by the door, listening.
I stopped everything and told Misty I had to go meet Roger Miller
and tell him what a fan I was.
Just as I approached him with my hand out, he said,
"Hi, Jack. I'm a fan of yours."
One of the best moments of my life.
The last time I saw him was at a party he hosted
at the King of the Road Motel.
He wove through the crowd to greet us, and we got talking.
He must have heard one of our interviews,
because he asked me what I meant when I said
that he was responsible for me getting into country music.
Here's where the stupid human trick comes in.
I will never know why, but I said this:
"I was just trying to get your attention."
He looked at me funny and drifted off into the crowd.
I could have told him all that I've told you here, but I didn't.
And now I never can.
Jack Blanchard
***
"A QUICK FARON YOUNG STORY."
Faron was sitting across the kitchen table from us in our motorhome.
We were parked behind the stage of a show we were doing together.
Faron said to Misty,
" You know, I think you're the best female singer in Nashville".
She smiled and graciously accepted the compliment.
That was followed by a long uncomfortable silence.
We all knew I was waiting for my compliment.
It just hung there.
Finally, when he couldn't stand it anymore,
Faron looked at me and said:
"I can say one thing for you.
Three seconds into the record you know who it is".
That was good enough for me. I'm still bragging about it.
Jack Blanchard
***
"LADY GODIVA."
Millville, Pennsylvania, has never been the same
since my wife ran through the firehouse
in that surprising condition.
We had just come from one of our better bookings
at a large Midwestern fair,
and were looking for the next town shown on our contract:
We bought three different maps,
looking for Millville.
Two of them had completely overlooked our destination,
and the third showed TWO Millvilles,
several hundred miles apart.
When we finally saw a sign pointing to our Millville
we were skidding around in a sea of mud.
At the end of the mud was the tiny town of Millville.
We learned that we were to play at the Annual Firemen's Picnic.
At the picnic grounds,
a Don Knottsish gentleman showed us to our stage:
a pile of logs with plywood laid on top.
The spotlight was a bulb hung on a pole.
There was no tent or cover of any kind
and the sky threatened rain.
We agreed to do the show
only on the condition that someone stand by with tarps
to throw over our instruments in case of a storm.
Everyone seemed surprised
when we asked where our dressing rooms were.
They opened up the firehouse for us,
about a mile down the road,
and said we could use the back room.
It was hot and humid
and we had to leave the doors and windows open to survive.
This meant dressing in the dark
because the sun was already dimming.
That didn't keep the mosquitoes from finding us.
There were hot dog stands, games, a merry-go-round,
and a few other amusements on the lawn,
and a goodly crowd was there.
Hundreds of people gathered around the makeshift stage
as a metallic loudspeaker barked about "show time".
An elderly dwarf, who called himself "Shorty "
jumped up and down in front of the bandstand,
ordering the audience to "Shut up" and "Stand back, there"!
He had no official capacity,
but nobody knew that
He kept it up throughout our show.
You could look into Shortys eyes
and see that nobody was driving.
The audience made up for the rest of the day
and after the first show,
they gathered around for autographs.
We sold completely out of records and pictures.
They really ruined our sulking.
We were eating a chilidog when I felt a drop of rain.
I looked up and got a bucketful!
We ran to the stage
and tried to get all of the equipment under the canvas.
The rain never let up
and eventually we had to load everything back into our trailer,
in the rain.
The second show was canceled.
All the firemen tried to help
and everyone was running into everyone else.
We were all soaking wet and the mud,
now ankle deep,
was spattering everywhere.
It looked like mud wrestling...
or mud slapstick comedy.
Misty was wearing a brand new dress
which she was trying to protect with a small plastic umbrella.
To her embarrassment,
the dress began to shrink fast
right before our very eyes.
The long ruffled sleeves were creeping up past her elbows.
The skirt, formerly a mini, was now getting X rated!
She held the umbrella with one hand
and tugged at her hemline with the other.
She wanted me to stand in front of her,
because the crowd was gathering for a new kind of show.
We made a mad dash for our car,
not looking back.
Meanwhile, back at the firehouse,
the troops had gathered and were already drinking beer,
playing cards, and counting the day's take.
I went in and explained the situation
and all present agreed to turn their backs
as our heroine ran the length of the main meeting hall
to the back room where she had her other clothes.
Firemen are real gentlemen.
Later, when they offered us a beer,
you'd better believe we accepted.
We stood in the doorway by the big fire engine,
looked out into the dark,
and waited for the rain to stop.
Jack Blanchard.

THE SOUND OF A FRIEND.
Mike Miller is one of our closest friends. He was our bandleader back in the day, and
we've been through good times and bad together. We seemed to laugh our way through the
highs and the lows. We affect each other that way.
We went to Nashville together in 1999, for Misty and me to receive a "Legendary
Entertainers" award. Mike drove the bus all the way up and back singing hits of the
50's and 60's in a high Jerry Lewis Nutty Professor voice. We took the wrong road and got
lost several times. We didn't care.
In the late 1970's we needed a band, so we called Mike and he brought his group from
Jacksonville to Orlando, to start rehearsals with us. The day he got there his motor home
burned up in our front yard.
We still laugh about it, and are seeking professional help.
Many years later, Mike conceived the idea, and helped us put together our first
"Greatest hits" CD
which is still our best seller.
Now he has released his first CD. It showed up in our mailbox yesterday, and we're wearing
it out. It's called "CROSS COUNTRY" by The MIKE MILLER BAND.
Mike didn't use studio musicians. This is club club band. He plays left-handed lead
guitar, sings, and has a style that's fresh and different.
All the songs are worthy of being singles, but I'm sending you a link to "Don't It
Look Like Georgia".
Why? Because that's the one I wrote.
Please click this link, or paste it into your browser to listen:

TRESA STREET PERFORMING AT IFCO SHINDIG
The Tresa Street Fan Club is proud to announce that Tresa will be
performing at the IFCO Shindig Party & Show on June 10th. Other performers include
John Arthur Martinez, Kelly Lang, and Billy Yates. SHINDIG info is now posted on the IFCO
website www.ifco.org (In the Events Section).
Even though Tresa Street was born in the south and grew up in the small country town of
Portland Tennessee, she loves all kinds of musical styles, A radio DJ once read that she
said her musical heroes were Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, along with Tina Turner and Cher.
When he asked her how can this be, Tresa explained that she admires all these women,
because, through good times and bad, they stuck to their dreams. And, their music, like
hers, comes straight from the heart. When she sings a love song, like her single
Naturally, you know she's singing about a real true love. Her music, like
Tresa herself, is the real deal. Her producer has created a musical style that is fresh
and new and compliments her own personal style. You won't find a lot of meaningless
politically correct fluff, just true blue emotion set to music.
For more information on Tresa Street, please contact Laura at wildfirepublicity@comcast.net or
615-825-0019. Photos, Ain't Nothin' Changed CD, I Fly or Naturally MP3, and interviews
available to the media by request.

www.TresaStreet.com ATTENTION RADIO: Tresa Street
Back in 2002,
when the music industry and the radio industry were going through some of its toughest
times, we all had friends and associates that lost their jobs due to layoffs,
consolidations and downsizing. But another downside was some great music was released
during that time and got lost in the shuffle. You may recall, it was next to impossible to
get any new artists started at radio!
One such artist was an excellent writer and singer by the name of Tresa Street. She was
and is different, with a country blues style all her own. She had some very
impressive airplay on her single Naturally. Shortly after the single, her CD
entitled, "Aint Nothin Changed" was released and received some great
reviews, both from radio and music critics, but at the time, it got lost in the
shuffle at the major radio stations due to the industry climate.
If you or your station missed a copy of Tresas CD or MP3s, we would like to offer
them to you now. To receive a promo copy for your station, simply email your request and
address to wildfirepublicity@comcast.net
(subject: Tresa Street CD request), and we will get one out to you right away. It
also contains the upcoming single, Rockin A Baby, an up tempo, rowdy,
dead on for your female demos; a perfect song for todays radio
listeners and country music fans. You can learn more about Tresa Street at her web site www.tresastreet.com
For more information on Tresa Street, please contact Laura at wildfirepublicity@comcast.net or
615-825-0019. Photos, Ain't Nothin' Changed CD, Rockin' a Baby or Naturally MP3, and
interviews available to radio the media by request.

Mark HoltMay is WorldWide Bluegrass
Music Month! The perfect picture for your publication Mark Holt as he hams it up with his
banjo at the Dogwood Festival in Lewiston, ID!
PHOTO: Mark Holt, Lewiston, Idaho, performs, much to the delight of onlookers
at Lewis & Clark State College's "Dogwood Festival" Outdoor Amphitheater.
Mark Holt & Kimberlee Holt Tully performed as the opening act for Louisiana's
Legendary Cajun's Michael Doucet & BeauSoleil. Mark Holt has been performing acoustic
music in the western United States & Canada for almost 30 years and is a founding
board member and past president of the Washington Bluegrass Association. The singer says:
"I think me and this old banjo are soul mates. I bought this Gibson RB250 in 1977,
and its the last remaining instrument from my childhood. I've gone through a half dozen
guitars and a couple of mandolins, but me and this ole 5-string have been through
everything together."

May issue of thebridgeworksThere's nothing
unusual about me running slow, so we'll just say that the May issue of thebridgeworks is
up on my website as per below. There is a news item about a new message board Lonnie
Ratliff and Gary Bradshaw have; we invite sending an email to me to get the link, but the
link stays live in email, so you can just click on it right here: http://www.eboards4all.com/910805/index.html
Another update is that Mail Train bass player John Bailey is in Summit Medical Center with
a cardiac problem -- an arteriogram on Monday should clear up the mystery, but prayers
don't worry about mysteries. Jimmy Martin is also at Summit, also in need of your prayers.
Hope you enjoy the new issue; if you don't know how you got on this list, I probably don't
either, but will gladly remove you on request. Keep them cards and letters (aka email
these days) coming in!!!
