James Kennedy (Songwriter) & James Meadows (Singer)

We recently got tired of all the disappointments associated with waiting on other folks to do something and cut our own CD titled, THE STORY OF MY LIFE.
The artist is James Meadows of Abbingdon, Virginia and the first release is  A CANDLE ON A CUPCAKE... The best part? it was recently submitted to, and approved for play on CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO, and can be heard at http://ihm-ip.clearchannel.com/cc-common/artist_submission/player.html?art=185366&gateway=exiting

The song probably won't be heard on the radio unless folks call and request it from the local DJs in their area so please do call your local CLEAR CHANNEL STATION and request A CANDLE ON A CUPCAKE by JAMES MEADOWS.

Note: CLEAR CHANNEL is probably the biggest radio conglomerate there is. Just call the biggest country station in your area.... If it's not Clear Channel, then you can bet that the 2nd biggest one will be, and ask to hear it... They probably won't play it until a lot of people start calling.

Willie Nelson Honored by the International Country Music Day Organization

2008 marks the 75th birthday of Willie Nelson, and therefore, the country music associations and websites that celebrate the International Country Music Day would like to honor the legend of the Texas country superstar.

As a singer, as a composer, as a former member of the Highwaymen, as a hitmaker, Willie Nelson is one of the living legends of our kind of music. His long-time contribution to country music for over 50 years is outstanding, and his influence over many generations of country, rock, and pop singers is certainly a landmark in world music.

Hence, ICMDAY wants to honor Willie Nelson by choosing his best song as the 2008 International Country Music Song. The winning tune will come out of votes cast around the world. The songs entering the poll have been selected by the ICMDAY members among Willie Nelson's best country releases according to their quality, chart position, and success of Willie's performance. The following songs have made it to the final selection: Crazy (1962), Good Hearted Woman (1972), Whiskey River (1973), Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain (1975), Mamas Don´t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys (1978), Angels Flying Too Close To The Ground (1980), On The Road Again (1980), My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys (1981), Always On My Mind (1982) and Seven Spanish Angels (1985). Everyone is welcome to vote by logging on to: http://www.icmday.org/

The non-profit organization International Country Music Day celebrates its fifth anniversary with new members and new activities. Cowboy Anton, its newest member and the representative of the organization in Nashville, states: "This experience is becoming a solid project. We just launched our own international website, and both our members and people all over the world love this opportunity to get to know other kinds of country. It is a great way to get acquainted with the ways in which country music is promoted in other countries, share all kinds of different experiences, and celebrate our love for country music".

During the last year the International Country Music Day organization was joined by Latonky (USA), TISBA (USA), Capital News (Australia), Country Music Foundation of Sri Lanka, Country Music Chronicles (Saudi Arabia), World Of Country (South Africa), and Music City USA (USA). Andoni Urkiaga, its coordinator, hopes that the organization will keep on growing with new members and friends: "Yes, our organization welcomes all country music associations and media that feel the need to promote country music, to get in touch with other country music fans around the world, and to foster pride in our music, no matter where we live, what our world view is, or who we are". Membership is free.

The International Country Music Day is held on September 17 every year, commemorating the birth of Hank Williams, one of the foremost legends of country music.

ABOUT THE NEW MUSIC AWARDS:

NMW is proud to be the first and only award show not weighted down with the politics and corruption of the corporate world, but an award show showing the true talent which exists in the music industry today. NMW's motivation for providing the most updated and fairly tracked radio airplay information is owed to the philosophy of radio pioneer and legend Bill Gavin, who started Gavin as a weekly tip-sheet for radio programmers in the 1950s. It wasn't till the early 1990's that
Gavin's philosophy was finally archived with the bureaucracy of major label politics . .thus the founding of New Music Weekly.

ABOUT AVALON:

In 1964, The Beatles had their first West Coast performance. Born as the Hollywood Playhouse, the building opened as one of Los Angeles' first and most lavish legitimate theatres on January 24, 1927 with a production of "Alias The Deacon," starring 1920s matinee idol Burton Churchill. Many theatrical productions followed, including the West Coast premiere of Ibsen's "An Enemy Of The People."

The advent of radio brought many CBS Radio Network programs to its stage, including the infamous Fanny Brice with her "Baby Snooks" show and Lucille Ball's "My Favorite Husband." With the dawning of the '40s came a new name and spirit. Now called the El Capitan Theatre, the building opened with "Ken Murray's Blackouts," a live variety/burlesque show which played 3,844 performances--a record that has remained unbroken since 1949.

In 1963, the building was again renamed, dubbed The Jerry Lewis Theatre to house the comedian's weekly ABC-TV variety series. When the program failed, ABC raised a more classic title onto the marquee, The Hollywood Palace, and launched its hit "Hollywood Palace" series with a kaleidoscope of show business greats--from Judy Garland to Louis Armstrong. Through seven successful years three things remained constant: season premieres hosted by Bing Crosby, a weekly all-star line-up unrivaled by any television presentation before or since, and ratings that made Nielsen history.

The Hollywood Palace also continued to feature music concerts, among them The Beatles' noted performance (over the years, each ex-Beatle would also take the stage as a solo artist). !" Though the "Hollywood Palace" series was canceled in 1970, the name and the theatre lived on as an ABC studio where variety shows were produced featuring Fred Astaire, Jimmy Durante and Pearl Bailey. Subsequently, Merv Griffin would settle in with his popular talk show.

Rebuilt as a multimedia facility, The Palace became the consummate concert venue and nightclub in town. As a five-night-a-week mega dance club featuring the largest light and sound system in Los Angeles, The Palace was the West Coast version of New York's infamous Studio 54.

Prince, Madonna, The Rolling Stones and others regularly came to party at The Palace. (Olivia Newton John even had her wedding reception there.)

Some bands, like The Rolling Stones, Prince, Tina Turner, and Oingo Boingo performed there just because it was The Palace.

SORRY I HAVEN'T WRITTEN.

Hi everybody.

I'm alive! Yayy!
I wasn't sure for a while there.

I got home last night from two weeks in stir... I mean the hospital,
and I'm working on getting my strength back.
I couldn't do any walking during these fourteen days
because they hooked me up to two IV pumps, several cash registers,
and a slot machine.

My only recreation was sending back food.
I've since realized that it wasn't so much their bad food
as it was that my taste sense is off.
Milk right out of the bottle tastes like fish.
The only foods that taste right are spicy dishes.

It all started with the gall bladder (the ugliest phrase in the English language)
and spread to my liver and pancreas.
I was as yellow as Homer Simpson.

I'm sort of on leave from the hospital,
and have to return in about ten days for some surgery.
The good news is that I'm not kicking the metal container.

Thanks to all of you who have called and emailed us
asking about my condition.
It's good to have friends.

More later.
Right now I have to take a pill the size of an Easter Egg.

Blackhawk, Little Texas, & Restless Heart

Join forces to Raise Money for Cancer Research

flyerWith the "Triple Threat Tour" still going strong, the members of LITTLE TEXAS and RESTLESS HEART are joining Henry Paul and BLACKHAWK in raising funds to benefit the Van Stephenson Memorial Cancer Research Fund (the V.S.M.C.R.F.) with a "TRIPLE THREAT DINNER & AUCTION" in Spokane, Washington, September 21, 2008.

The charity was formed to honor the last wishes of founding BLACKHAWK member Van Stephenson after he lost his battle with Melanoma Cancer in 2001.  For the last few years, BlackHawk has raised money in various ways, including several VSMCRF DINNER & AUCTIONS, where the fans are invited to have dinner with the band members before a concert and bid on special band auction items.  Members of all three bands will be attending the dinner in Spokane and are donating band memorabila for the auction.

According to Henry Paul, "This year, Van's charity was dealt a small setback. With Dave Robbins departure from the band, a significant effort was put into reforming the group so that Blackhawk could go forward. This pushed our charity effort back a spot, but with the group back in full swing an ALL OUT effort is being waged this fall to reach our annual goal.

"We're getting help from Little Texas and Restless Heart at our Spokane,Washington, Triple Threat date this year.  It's our first multiple group dinner and auction, and our first one west of the Mississippi, and we are quite excited about it."
