Susan comes by her talent naturally. Her family has
been performing for generations and she herself has been singing since she was 3 years old
when she sang Susie Snowflake in a church program. When Susan's family moved to Utah her
mom took Susan to the now deceased William Stoker for voice lessons. He coached such
greats as Johnny Mathis, Merv Griffin, and Shirley Temple before his retirement to Utah.
Bill Stoker was a hard taskmaster and pushed Susan to tears many times, but she worked
hard for him and learned her craft well.
Thereafter, Susan won several contests and went on to
be the first country singer to perform with the Utah Symphony. She sang on Eugene
Jelesnick's Talent Showcase on KSL television in Salt Lake City, Utah, had a month long
engagement at Mac's Casino in Wendover, Nevada, performed at the Peppermill Casino in
Mesquite, Nevada, and recently performed for several months at Lonnie's in Printers Alley
in Nashville where she developed a large following of fans from all over the country.
Last year, Susan was featured in a Showcase at the Stage Door
Lounge in the Opryland Hotel. Her performance was awesome and as a result of that showcase
Susan had a signed recording contract within 3 weeks of her arrival in Nashville.
Joe and Tamra Tinoco
spent a February evening after being invited by their web friend, Susan Cowan, enjoying a
fantastic show in Downtown Nashville, where Susan was showcasing. Susan sang an old
favorite, "Don't Worry About Me", and yes, she was as great as promised. More
info on the showcase can be found on Susan's site.
Do not cheat yourself the pleasure of hearing this up
and rising young lady! Susan has got a voice you won't soon forget and will always want
more of. She has been compared to Patsy Cline and Elvis...with a combination like that how
can anyone go wrong. I think you will notice a trace of each in her music but Susan has a
powerfully dynamic voice and a style that is purely Susan....traditional, sultry, and new
all in one. She has been acclaimed as having a "Velvet Voice" and it fits her
nicely.
